Viettel successfully auctioned the 700 MHz band

The price Viettel offers is 1,995,613,000,000 VND, which is equivalent to the world average price.

This is the fourth time Viettel has participated in the 700MHz spectrum auction. Owning this spectrum block is of particular importance to Viettel because it is the final piece that will help Viettel expand its coverage to 99% of the population by 2030.

With its long-distance transmission and good penetration characteristics, the B2 - B2' frequency block of the 700MHz band not only helps to cover widely and effectively rural, mountainous, remote areas, and national highways, but is also suitable for bringing telecommunication waves into high-rise buildings and hard-to-reach locations in urban areas.

With the development of 4G and 5G networks, the 700 MHz band plays a particularly important role, helping network operators provide cheaper services to users.

According to technical research, the coverage radius on this frequency block is 1.8 times larger than that of the 1,800MHz band, helping Viettel optimize deployment costs many times over, saving thousands of billions compared to using current frequency bands when handling difficult-to-cover areas, while improving and enhancing user experience. This is the frequency block planned by the Ministry of Science and Technology to deploy mobile information systems according to the IMT-Advanced (4G) standard and subsequent versions.

Major General Tao Duc Thang, Chairman and General Director of Viettel Group, shared: “Owning the B2 - B2' frequency block of the 700MHz band in this auction is extremely important and timely for Viettel to realize Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, in order to build a high-speed, safe, reliable digital infrastructure platform, connecting people, authorities, businesses, accelerating the application of digital technologies in all aspects of social life, from urban to rural areas”.

On the B2 - B2' frequency block of the 700MHz band, Viettel will deploy 4G/5G mobile broadband Internet access services, providing high speed and low latency, serving entertainment, remote working, and online learning, IoT (Internet of Things) services, supporting platforms and applications such as smart cities, smart agriculture, and smart traffic management...

Viettel will focus all resources to immediately deploy the construction of new integrated frequency infrastructure, aiming for the best 5G network with over 20,000 broadcasting stations before December 31, 2025.

Viettel leads in mobile network speed in April 2025

According to data released by the i-Speed ​​platform of the Vietnam Internet Center, in April 2025, the mobile broadband network speed of telecommunications service providers in Vietnam was improved simultaneously. Of which, Viettel had the best mobile network quality, with a download speed of 88.97 Mbps and an upload speed of 27.98 Mbps.

In the field of new-generation wireless technology, 5G network quality also made a leap forward in April, with the average nationwide download speed reaching 354.88 Mbps, while the upload speed reached 94.92 Mbps.

With its strengths in technology and investment in network infrastructure, Viettel continues to affirm its leading position in 5G network speed. The average download speed of Viettel's 5G network in April 2025 reached 364.43 Mbps, while the upload speed was 97.6 Mbps, contributing to improving user experience and promoting digital transformation in Vietnam. Viettel also recorded more than 6.2 million 5G users at present after half a year of launch.
