The global dairy industry and Asia's rise
The Global Dairy Congress is a high-level forum that brings together nearly 200 leaders in the dairy industry to share, discuss and update information on the latest developments and future trends of the entire industry. This year, the conference chose the theme “Dairy for All Ages”, posing a major issue: how dairy products can increasingly meet all nutritional needs, affirming the natural nutritional value of milk for sustainable development.

In addition to the participation of countries considered the "cradle of the dairy industry" such as the US, New Zealand, Europe, etc., in recent years, the conference has had the participation of large enterprises from Asia such as China, India with the advantage of a billion-people market or Japan known as a technologically developed country. From Southeast Asia, Vietnam began participating in the conference in 2019 with a typical enterprise being Vinamilk, which is also the only representative of the region to present a speech.
Ms. Laurence Rycken, General Director of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), commented: “Currently, IDF has members from India, Japan, Korea and China. We are looking forward to having more members from Vietnam and Asian countries join. Vinamilk is a large enterprise in the region. Through many years of attending the Global Dairy Conference, I see that Vietnam and Vinamilk have many success stories, which are worth learning from for other markets.”

During the 2-day conference, there were more than 20 valuable presentations and 4 in-depth discussions from leading corporations and units in the world's dairy industry, revolving around topics such as: Natural, pure, safe products; Innovation - the future of the dairy industry; Developing dairy products suitable for personalized nutrition; Sustainable development... With the scale and influence of leading businesses, these strategies are not only their own stories, but also create impact and outline the future of the dairy industry.
A Big Step Forward for the Dairy Industry: Unlocking Nature's Nutritional Value with Science
At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri - Vinamilk Marketing Executive Director - opened his presentation with the theme "Born by Nature, Perfected by Science" by emphasizing: "The future of the dairy industry lies in the ability to combine natural nutritional values and outstanding scientific advances, to "unlock" nature and upgrade the nutritional value of milk. This philosophy is also the guiding principle for all of Vinamilk's innovations, with the goal of constantly improving the value and quality of dairy products to care for all needs and all ages".

Specifically, Vinamilk Green Farm fresh milk with dual vacuum technology has been shared by Vinamilk as an "unimaginable" step forward in the dairy industry. It took 2 years of research and testing for Vinamilk to successfully reduce up to 50% of free oxygen radicals in Vinamilk Green Farm fresh milk, helping to lock in the freshness and natural floral aftertaste. Although this technology is quite popular in the food industry, applying it to fresh milk is not simple and unprecedented in Vietnam.
As a result of this investment, Vinamilk Green Farm has won many international awards for both taste and quality such as Superior Taste, Monde Selection (Belgium), surpassing more than 400 strict criteria on quality and production conditions to achieve safety and purity according to Clean Label Project (USA), setting a new standard for fresh milk in Vietnam.
With the growing trend of personalized health, consumers are now not only looking for “fresh milk” but also need to accurately measure the nutritional content in each carton of milk. That is also the origin of the advanced microfiltration technology that Vinamilk brought back from Sweden, to launch smart nutritional milk products: high protein, low fat, rich in calcium and lactose-free. This technology helps Vinamilk to precisely adjust the ratio of protein, fat, and lactose from pure fresh milk, helping the product have a high protein content without adding any other protein sources - something that is “impossible” with traditional technology.

“Breakthroughs in science and technology help us not only preserve the best values from nature, but also develop nutritional solutions that are closest to “natural”, that is what Mr. Nguyen Quang Tri shared when talking about the breakthrough called “The first 6 HMOs in Vietnam”. In 2024, Vinamilk was the pioneer in successfully adding 6 types of HMOs, including all 3 subgroups (Sialylated, Fucosylated, Non-fucosylated) to the products Optimum Gold and Optimum Colos.

Mr. Richard Hall, Chairman of the Global Dairy Conference shared: “Milk is a very good nutritional foundation, but it always needs to be innovated to suit human needs. We cannot consume hundreds of products at the same time but must choose what is best for the body. More than ever, technology helps the dairy industry go long and sustainable. In 5 years of participation, the Vietnamese representative has brought many valuable shares. This year, the products are very creative with many impressive technologies, quality and delicious. I think, that is all we need to develop the dairy industry”.
In addition to fresh milk and formula milk, Vinamilk also shares many nutritional breakthroughs in other product lines such as: Vinamilk Green Farm pasteurized yogurt drink, for the first time integrating 6 strains of live yeast and probiotics from Europe; or the whole soybean grinding technology of Vinamilk 9 Kinds of Seed Milk product, keeping the maximum natural nutritional ingredients and delicious taste from the seeds, especially, reducing the amount of by-products (soybean residue) compared to traditional production methods.
Winning the World Dairy Innovation Award
Within the framework of the Global Dairy Conference in the Netherlands, two Vinamilk products were honored at the World Dairy Innovation Awards 2025. Specifically, the Best Yogurt category was awarded to Vinamilk Green Farm Greek high-protein yogurt and Best Packaging Design was awarded to Vinamilk Plant-Based Yogurt.

This has contributed to impressing the global dairy industry community with the level of investment in science and technology, as well as the innovation and creativity of the Vietnamese milk brand, which is ranked 6th in the world. Although Vietnam is a young country in the dairy industry, the pioneering of leading enterprises in the industry has helped affirm the position and mark of Vietnamese milk on the global stage, with products "made in Vietnam" but possessing the world's top technology and standards.
“I was impressed with the presentation from Vietnam today, especially about innovative products such as Vinamilk Green Farm or formula milk with 6HMOs. They also have many products winning awards this time. I have worked for many years in the nutrition industry, so I find it interesting that Vinamilk is promoting innovation in product ingredients as well as many achievements in sustainable development. Compared to many other places in the world, the level and speed of digital technology application in Asia, including Vietnam, is very high,” said Ms. Sandra Einerhand, Founder of Einerhand Science and Innovation Organization, Netherlands.
