Vingroup wins ASEAN sustainable technology award

Applying technology and digital to green business helped Vingroup be honored at the ASEAN Sustainable Technology Awards 2023, March 14.

Vietnam's representative surpassed many large enterprises in Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia to receive the honor at the ASEAN Sustainable Technology Awards 2023. The expert council evaluated and gave high scores to the project "Creating a Green Future" of Vingroup Corporation, with a set of criteria covering all three aspects of environment, society, and governance.

Leveraging the capabilities of one of the region's leading multi-industry corporations, Vingroup promotes digital initiatives that prioritize sustainability. In particular, advanced technologies such as IT, IoT, robotics, virtual reality technology and blockchain have been applied. This series of technologies and techniques bring high efficiency, ensuring ESG criteria covering all of the corporation's business activities, from technology - industry, trade - services to society.

A prominent green initiative of Vingroup is the complete conversion of VinFast ’s production and business operations to smart electric vehicles. This landmark move contributes to reducing carbon emissions while promoting a sustainable mobility ecosystem. In addition, VinFast has created thousands of jobs, contributing to boosting the local economy.

Vingroup also deploys smart city solutions that leverage IoT sensors and data analytics. Smart city solutions aim to optimize energy consumption, reduce waste, improve traffic efficiency, and create a sustainable urban environment. The ASEAN Sustainable Technology Awards is an annual award presented by the ASEAN Innovative Business Platform (AIBP) to recognize organizations across Southeast Asia that contribute to sustainable development. The awards highlight the impact of businesses and organizations through the application of technology and digital to environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.

Mr. Irza Suprapto, CEO of AIBP, CEO Industry Platform, said that the award has honored many organizations that have made significant contributions to integrating environmental, social, and governance principles into business operations through digital innovation. Regarding Vingroup, Mr. Suprapto said that the Vietnamese representative has pioneered efforts, positively impacting the world. "Through the award, we set standards towards sustainability and social responsibility across the region, demonstrating our commitment and mission in leveraging the power of technology to build a better future for everyone," the leader of AIBP affirmed.
