There were 81 nominations from 56 businesses deserving of recognition in the top 10 Vietnamese IT companies of 2024 across 22 sectors; including 11 nominations for trillion-VND digital technology companies.
On September 21st, in Hanoi , the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) held a ceremony to announce and honor the top 10 outstanding digital technology enterprises in Vietnam in 2024. The program was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications, technology experts, and over 400 delegates including leaders, staff, and employees of the honored digital technology enterprises.
The Top 10 Outstanding Digital Technology Companies in Vietnam is an annual program organized by VINASA to select and recognize leading and reputable businesses in Vietnam. The program also aims to introduce and connect the honored companies with domestic and international partners. Over the years, the program has received high praise from agencies, businesses, organizations, and partners, effectively supporting businesses in their communication activities and fostering cooperation.
Launched on May 13, 2024, the program received widespread support and participation from businesses over the past two months. The judging panel, comprising representatives from the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Science and Technology, universities, international consulting and auditing firms, IT media outlets, IT experts, and VINASA leadership, unanimously selected 81 nominees from 56 businesses to be honored as the top 10 Vietnamese IT companies of 2024 across 22 sectors.
Among them, there are 11 nominees for the Billion-Dollar Digital Technology Enterprise award. According to statistics, the total revenue of the top 10 honored enterprises this year reached 115,469 billion VND, equivalent to over 4.7 billion USD, with a total workforce of 76,767 people. The 11 Billion-Dollar Digital Technology Enterprises alone have a revenue of 82,251 billion VND, equivalent to 3.3 billion USD, employing 52,244 people.
According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, despite the continued difficulties and challenges facing the global economy , Vietnam's digital technology industry has achieved remarkable results. Revenue from Vietnam's digital technology industry in the first nine months of 2024 reached US$118 billion, an increase of 17.78% compared to the same period in 2023; of which, revenue from software and digital industry services was US$6.64 billion, an increase of 9.86% compared to the same period in 2023.
The Vietnamese digital technology business community comprises over 51,000 enterprises, creating jobs for more than 1.5 million people, including approximately 1,500 digital technology businesses with revenue from overseas markets. Software and digital industry services are among the competitive strengths of Vietnamese businesses domestically and internationally, contributing to Vietnam's place on the world map of the digital industry.
According to Mr. Ngo Dien Hy, Vice Chairman of VINASA, the sustainable development of Vietnamese digital technology businesses is built on the foundation of owning, developing, and applying advanced technological tools, and developing a force of excellent IT experts and engineers.
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is particularly noteworthy. Many companies have patented AI products and won numerous international awards. The growth formula for many digital technology businesses recently has been to invest heavily in R&D applying AI tools such as OCR, chatbots, code converters, code generators, and test automation... to increase labor productivity and speed up product packaging, thereby optimizing resources and generating growth in both revenue and profit.
In recent times, technology companies serving the domestic market have also seen strong investment in the development and application of AI. AI applications are becoming widespread, reaching individuals, officials, organizations, and businesses. AI computing infrastructure is also receiving significant investment, with mega-data centers and AI chips being deployed by large companies to development units. The number of AI engineers and experts in businesses is also increasing rapidly. Reports indicate that Vietnam now has approximately 10,000 AI engineers, with FPT announcing that it possesses over 1,000 AI experts.
According to VINASA, Vietnam is being assessed as the next economy in Asia with the opportunity to become one of the global semiconductor industry development centers, alongside South Korea, Taiwan (China), and Japan. In fact, Vietnam is rapidly becoming a "rising star" in the global semiconductor market, with many advantages and significant opportunities for cooperation and development.
Besides development strategies such as attracting foreign direct investment, technology and R&D cooperation, and human resource training cooperation, Vietnamese digital technology enterprises are pioneering the development of the semiconductor industry. FPT, with its Made by Vietnam chips, and MKSmart, with its chip operating system and secure security system, are leading enterprises participating in the formation of Vietnam's semiconductor industry ecosystem. Several other enterprises are beginning to cooperate in the design, application development, and testing stages of chips.
