On the afternoon of November 5, the Department of Science and Technology of Vinh Long province held a meeting to discuss solutions for developing 5G network infrastructure in the 2025 - 2030 period, and at the same time evaluate the work of arranging and rearranging telecommunications cable networks in the province.
At the meeting, delegates exchanged and discussed the plan to develop Vinh Long province's digital infrastructure for the 2025 - 2030 period with the goal of building a modern, synchronous, secure, safe and efficient infrastructure system, avoiding overlapping and wasteful investment.
According to the orientation, telecommunications enterprises aim to expand 5G coverage across the province by 2027; in which, by the end of 2025, the number of 5G broadcasting stations will reach at least 10% of the total number of existing 4G stations. At the same time, units will gradually ensure 5G coverage for all operating industrial parks and clusters, serving socio -economic development and the digital transformation process of the locality.
Currently, in the province, there are seven enterprises owning telecommunication cable network infrastructure including: VNPT Vinh Long, Viettel Vinh Long, Mobifone Southern Network Center, FPT Vinh Long branch, Phuong Nam Television Company, SCTV and VTVcab. In recent times, these units have invested in developing the network, expanding telecommunication and Internet services to 100% of communes and wards, especially in remote areas, island communes, well meeting the information connection needs of people and businesses.
According to statistics, up to now, enterprises have arranged and bundled telecommunication cables and subscriber lines on 668 routes and areas with a total length of more than 1,329 km. The work of collecting old and unused cables has been implemented synchronously, contributing to ensuring safety and improving urban and rural aesthetics.
In the coming time, the science and technology sector will continue to coordinate with telecommunications enterprises to strengthen inspection and supervision of the repair and rearrangement of cable car systems, promptly handle cases of tilted poles and low cables causing unsafety or affecting urban aesthetics. The goal is to build a modern and synchronous telecommunications infrastructure, meeting the requirements of developing the digital economy and digital society of Vinh Long province in the new period.
