In the previous round, 5/7 matches in the 2024-2025 V-League ended in a draw, making it impossible for teams - both in the championship and relegation groups - to break through and improve their rankings.
Therefore, the confrontations in round 19, taking place from April 18 to April 20, promise to be even more tense, dramatic and fierce at both ends of the rankings.
The top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh (35 points), will travel to the home field of the bottom team with "no way back", SHB Da Nang (10 points). The gap between the two teams on the rankings is very different, however, the "lesson" of losing points to Ho Chi Minh City Club in the previous round will be a reminder for coach Vu Hong Viet and his team that no match in the V-League is easy and another "misstep" will cause the defending champion to let the chasing teams narrow the gap.
One of the teams chasing Nam Dinh the most closely this season is Hanoi FC (31 points, ranked 2nd). After failing to take advantage of the opportunity to shorten the gap with the top team in the previous round (Hanoi FC let Hai Phong hold them to a draw in the late match), coach Teguramori Makoto's team will have a trip to visit Becamex Binh Duong - a team that has shown signs of "slowing down" recently (2 losses, 1 draw in the last 3 rounds).
The two clubs in the top 5, The Cong-Viettel (30 points, ranked 3rd) and Dong A Thanh Hoa (27 points, ranked 5th) will have a direct confrontation at Thanh Hoa Stadium. "Thanh team" is going through a series of 9 matches without a win (7 draws, 2 losses) while The Cong also let the opponent hold them to a draw in the last 2 matches.
Another loss of points in this round will make the chances of both teams competing in the leading group more "fragile", so victory will be the goal that both Thanh Hoa and The Cong aim for in this direct competition.
Meanwhile, Hanoi Police (28 points, ranked 4th) will continue to play at home at Hang Day Stadium to welcome guests Ho Chi Minh City Club (21 points, ranked 10th).
The 3-1 victory over Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the previous round has given coach Mano Polking's team more confidence, however Quang Hai and his teammates still need to be "vigilant" against the away team, as Ho Chi Minh City Club has just stubbornly won 1 point right on the field of the defending champion Nam Dinh Steel Blue in round 18.
The team currently ranked second to last on the rankings, Quy Nhon Binh Dinh (16 points), will visit Lach Tray Stadium of the host Hai Phong (21 points, ranked 9th). The "Port City team" always plays very well at home (just held Hanoi FC to a 0-0 draw), but the high spirits after the victory over Quang Nam in the previous round can help Binh Dinh create a surprise.
Right above Binh Dinh is Song Lam Nghe An (18 points), the team that just got a little more advantage in the relegation battle when it won 1 point against Thanh Hoa in the previous round. In round 19, "Nghe An Team" will face Quang Nam (20 points) - the team that just lost to Binh Dinh and is also "thirsty for points" to escape the danger zone.
In the remaining match, Hong Linh Ha Tinh (25 points, ranked 6th) promises to have a difficult away trip to Hoang Anh Gia Lai (21 points, ranked 8th), because this is a match in which the away team will be missing 2 players due to suspension: defender Nguyen Van Hanh (received a red card in the previous round) and midfielder Tran Dinh Tien (received 3 yellow cards)./.
