Entering the second qualifying round of the U20 Women's Asian Cup, the Vietnam U20 Women's Team had their opening match against the Iran U20 Women's Team, one of two easy opponents in the group of coach Akiria Ijiri and his team.
In the first minutes of the first half, the U20 women's team of Vietnam had a rather shaky start when they were continuously attacked by U20 Iran. In the 5th minute, center back Nhu Quynh did not control the ball well but goalkeeper Kieu My rushed out to clear the danger.

In the 35th minute, Thanh Thao crossed the ball for Minh Chuyen to increase the score to 2-1. Before the first half ended, the U20 women's team of Vietnam had at least 2 more dangerous situations but could not defeat the Iranian goalkeeper.
Returning after the break, Minh Chuyen had a good shot to beat the Iranian goalkeeper but the ball unfortunately hit the post in the 58th minute. In this situation, the Vietnamese U20 women's team continuously put pressure on the Iranian goal but no specific dangerous situations were created.
Defeating Iran's U20 women's team, coach Ijiri and his team only need one more win against Lebanon's U20 women's team to secure their place in the next round.
In the remaining minutes, Thi Trang came off the bench to score the third goal in the 64th minute. The goal came after three consecutive shots by the Vietnam U20 women's team in front of Iran's goal.
With the last 2 minutes of the match left, U20 Iran scored a goal to shorten the gap to 2-3 from the 11m penalty spot because the ball touched Hong Yeu's hand in a dispute.
In the end, Vietnam U20 women's team won 3-2 against Iran U20. In the previous match, Australia U20 defeated Lebanon U20 5-0.
In the next match, Vietnam U20 women will face Lebanon U20 women at 7:00 p.m. on June 5.
