The total amount of money that football teams participating in the 2023-2024 professional season will receive from the division of television copyright and advertising support is nearly 32 billion VND - an increase of about 23% compared to 2023. Of which, the division of television copyright alone increased by 24.8% compared to the previous season. In addition, in 2024, VPF also plans to spend an additional 14 billion VND to support clubs to repair, maintain and upgrade facilities.
Clubs participating in international tournaments receive financial support from VPF
A club representative shared with Thanh Nien : "Increasing the annual club support payment is considered a highly practical expense in the effort to upgrade tournament organization conditions. Clubs have more money to upgrade facilities: stadiums, lighting systems, functional rooms, etc. The image of professional tournaments in Vietnam is also raised, the professional quality of matches is improved, the number of spectators coming to the stadium will be larger and the number of viewers watching on TV will also be larger. From there, the value of the tournament increases and also helps VPF in commercial exploitation, increasing financial resources to continue supporting clubs."
The increase in financial support costs for professional football teams is also a clear demonstration of VPF's certain success in maintaining a stable source of revenue. VPF's report at the congress emphasized: "In the general context of the economy after the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic is still on the way to recovery, the costs for operating and organizing tournaments are not small, VPF is still maintaining stable development. Positive signals from business activities, commercial exploitation of tournaments in 2024 are forecasted to be 113.8% higher than in 2023 and about 117.7% higher than the expected revenue plan for 2025".
In addition to increasing financial expenditure for participating teams, VPF has approved a support payment of VND300 million for 3 clubs representing Vietnam in international tournaments, as well as assigning personnel to coordinate the organization of international matches. For each club that passes the group stage of an international tournament, VPF will continue to pay an additional VND300 million to encourage the clubs, and the team will receive an additional VND200 million for each time it passes the knockout round. It is expected that the total amount of money spent could reach VND3.9 billion, depending on the results of the clubs' matches.
