On the morning of February 1, Ba Ria Vung Tau newspaper published information that 5 players of Ba Ria Vung Tau Football Club were prosecuted for gambling. Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc - General Director of VPF, Head of the Organizing Committee of National Professional Football Tournaments - said: " To ensure the completeness, accuracy, transparency of information and timely coordination in handling and resolving related matters, VPF Company and the tournament's Organizing Committee have sent a document requesting Ba Ria-Vung Tau Football Club to specifically report on issues related to the incident today ."
Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc emphasized that the organizing committee always strives to prevent and repel negativity. Mr. Ngoc said: " At national professional football tournaments, the prevention of negativity is always a top priority. In addition to coordinating with agencies under C02, VPF Company also regularly exchanges information with functional departments of the Vietnam Football Federation, cooperating with companies specializing in sports data analysis.
With the complicated developments of illegal activities in football with many sophisticated tricks, propaganda,education and awareness raising play an equally important role. Understanding this issue, VPF Company always proactively cooperates with the Vietnam Football Federation and clubs to organize propaganda and remind members participating in the tournament .

Meanwhile, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) is also waiting for detailed information from the police and Ba Ria-Vung Tau Club about the decision to prosecute. After that, the Disciplinary Board will propose a solution.
"The Vietnam Football Federation has received information that five Ba Ria Vung Tau players have been prosecuted for gambling. Currently, we have to wait and see how the police will handle this. If this happens, the Disciplinary Board will come up with a solution," said VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi.
According to information from Ba Ria-Vung Tau newspaper, 5 players of Ba Ria Vung Tau Club, namely NSH (born in 1994), LBGH (2002), PVP (2004), NQH (2004) and TKA (2004) were prosecuted for "Gambling" under Article 321 of the Penal Code. The decisions were approved by the Provincial People's Procuracy.
According to the initial investigation results, these 5 players discussed and agreed to play below their ability in the match between Ba Ria Vung Tau and Da Nang, round 8 of the 2023/24 National First Division.
The group of players then bet on Da Nang FC to win on the football betting site. The final result of this match was 3-1 in favor of Da Nang.
