This morning, April 17, the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training presented the decision of the Minister of Education and Training to appoint a person to hold the position of Director of the Department of HigherEducation to Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Deputy Director of the Institute of Digital Training and Testing, Hanoi National University. Thus, the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Training has a director after a month and a half of vacancy in this position.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao received the decision from Deputy Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao's predecessor was Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, who was appointed by the Minister of Education and Training to hold the position of Director of the Department of International Cooperation in early March.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao is the Director of the Hanoi National University Examination Center - the unit that organizes the HSA high school student assessment exam.
After Hanoi National University reorganized its apparatus, the Testing Center was merged into another unit within Hanoi National University, Mr. Thao became the deputy leader of the new unit (Institute of Digital Training and Testing).
Mr. Nguyen Tien Thao, born in 1977, is a scientist specializing in petrochemistry and catalysis, and was awarded the title of professor of chemistry in 2015. Professor Thao completed his doctoral program at Laval University, Canada, majoring in chemical engineering in 2007; and did postdoctoral research at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GaTech), USA from 2008 to 2010.
After returning to Vietnam to work at Hanoi National University, Professor Nguyen Tien Thao has held many management positions such as: Deputy Head of the Faculty of Chemistry, University of Natural Sciences, Hanoi National University; Deputy Head of the Training Department, Hanoi National University.
