During his coaching career, Coach Vu Hong Viet left many marks in youth tournaments. He and U15 Vietnam won the 2015 Southeast Asian Championship, and led U19 Vietnam to win the 2018 International U19 Championship. The Hanoi coach won the National U19 Championship four times with U19 Hanoi. After that, Mr. Viet spent a long time as an assistant to Coach Park Hang-seo at the national team.

However, in the V.League, which requires stability and long-term courage, Coach Vu Hong Viet is still doubted about his ability. In the 2020 season, he was appointed as the coach of Quang Nam Club to replace Coach Hoang Van Phuc. The Quang Nam team was in a serious crisis at that time. However, in his first time holding the table, Coach Vu Hong Viet could not help Quang Nam Club successfully stay in the league.

In 2022, the coach born in 1979 will have his second time coaching in V.League with a contract with Nam Dinh Club. That year, he helped the team from Thanh Nam successfully stay in the league in 12th place. In the 2023/24 season, with strong investment in personnel, Nam Dinh Club convincingly won the championship. But behind that success, people do not mention much about coach Vu Hong Viet but only Nguyen Xuan Son - the striker who contributed 31 goals on the team's championship journey.

This season, Xuan Son suffered a serious injury and had to retire from round 10. Hendrio also said goodbye to the team. Many people were skeptical about Nam Dinh Club when they lost their main attacking duo.

However, coach Vu Hong Viet's students are playing better and better. After 21 rounds, Nam Dinh FC leads the rankings with 42 points. With only 5 more rounds left in the season, coach Vu Hong Viet and his students are the brightest candidates for the championship.

With 35 goals scored and only 11 goals conceded, Nam Dinh FC is showing stability in both attack and defense. This is a rare balance in a harsh playground like V.League. Under the guidance of coach Vu Hong Viet, each individual maximizes their ability, plays in the right role, is disciplined and is always ready to shine when needed.

Names like Tran Van Dat, Ly Cong Hoang Anh, Nguyen Van Vi all exploded in their own way. Tran Van Dat - a player who once couldn't find a chance at Hanoi FC - now has 3 goals and 4 assists after 16 appearances. Ly Cong Hoang Anh has re-established his peak form, while Van Vi attacks and defends with enthusiasm.

Most importantly, Coach Vu Hong Viet created a clear identity for Nam Dinh FC. That is proactive defense, quick transitions and effective high pressing. The 3-0 victory over Hanoi FC in round 21 is a typical example.

All three goals came from exemplary transitions, making the most of the space behind the opposition defence. It was a victory that came from the calculations of a talented coach.

Coach Vu Hong Viet is showing himself to be a true architect when creating a united and passionate Nam Dinh Club. The second V.League championship will probably be the greatest gift for the dedication of the Hanoi coach.
