After agreeing to transfer the case to the investigation agency, on the evening of May 31, the Department of Health continued to report to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province on the progress of inspection and verification of information about the advertisement of Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement food product of Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited (Bien Hoa 2 Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City).
Accordingly, the Department of Health informed that the Technical Center for Standards, Measurement and Quality 3 has returned test results for samples of Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement food.
The test results show that "the product has safety and quality indicators consistent with the enterprise's self-declared product profile".
Reporting to the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, the Department of Health said that the inspection team had previously taken samples of Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement food products to evaluate the safety and quality indicators of the product.
The Department of Health assessed that "this is a very complicated case, involving many sectors and affected by many laws."
Therefore, the department has established an interdisciplinary inspection team including the police, the Department of Justice, the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Market Management Department to focus on clarifying the information reflected and the direction of the Food Safety Department (Ministry of Health) on the advertisement of Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement food product of Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited.
After reaching an agreement with the interdisciplinary inspection team, on May 29, the department issued a document transferring the case file and handing over all related documents to the police investigation agency to verify whether Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited had signs of deceiving consumers.
After the investigation agency informed the authorities that it would coordinate with relevant departments to handle the matter according to regulations, the Technical Center for Standards, Metrology and Quality 3 returned the test results of Nestlé Milo barley milk product samples "with safety and quality indicators consistent with the enterprise's self-declared product profile".
Ministry of Health requests clarification of Nestlé Milo barley milk advertising information
As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , on April 22, the Department of Food Safety - Ministry of Health sent an official dispatch to the Department of Health of Dong Nai province regarding coordination in handling information related to advertising of Nestlé Milo barley milk products.
Dong Nai Provincial Department of Health worked with representatives of Nestlé Vietnam Company Limited.
Nestlé Vietnam confirms that it only uses information from the Institute of Nutrition on the product label "Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement", other products of the company do not use information from the Institute of Nutrition.
While waiting for instructions, Nestlé Vietnam has proactively stopped all advertisements related to the Institute of Nutrition on television, digital platforms, social networks, billboards...
When the case was transferred to the investigation agency, Nestlé Vietnam responded to Tuoi Tre Online that "we are continuing to work with the authorities on this issue. We respect the instructions of the authorities on interpreting the information on the packaging of the product "Nestlé Milo barley milk supplement".
