(BDO) On July 10, the Investigation Police Department of Thu Dau Mot City Police announced that they were detaining Duong Phu Hien (47 years old, from Quang Nam ) to investigate the act of "Murder".

According to the investigation, Duong Phu Hien and Ms. NTM (40 years old, from Ha Tinh) had a relationship for about 2 years, but in June 2023, a conflict arose. At about 2:00 p.m. on June 29, Hien prepared a bottle of gasoline and took it on a bus from Kien Giang to Binh Duong . After that, Hien rented a hotel in Phu Loi ward, Thu Dau Mot city to rest. In the evening of the same day, Hien checked out and walked to supermarket G., in Hiep Thanh ward, Thu Dau Mot city to buy a Thai knife and then returned to the old hotel to rest.
Police seized evidence including knives and gas lighters in the case.
On the morning of July 1, Hien went to the area near G. supermarket to wait for Ms. M. to finish work. When the two met, they argued, Hien immediately opened the cap of a bottle of gasoline and poured it on Ms. M., causing the victim to panic and run away. Seeing this, Hien chased after her and used a lighter to light Ms. M. on fire, causing the fire. The victim ran to Binh Duong Avenue (Hiep Thanh ward) and took off her burning shirt, then collapsed on the street. Hien continued to stab the victim in the face with a knife, then ran away. Ms. M. was taken to the emergency room immediately afterwards.
On the night of July 8, detectives from the Criminal Police Department of Thu Dau Mot City Police coordinated with the Traffic Police Department of Gia Lai Province Police to organize a blockade and arrest Hien while he was traveling on a passenger bus through Ia Khuoil Commune, Chu Pah District, Gia Lai Province. Afterwards, the authorities completed procedures to transfer Hien to the headquarters of the Criminal Police Department of Thu Dau Mot City Police to continue investigating and clarifying the case.
