On the morning of February 4 (the 7th day of Tet), the Tich Dien festival, praying for a bountiful harvest in early spring, took place in Doi Son commune (Duy Tien, Ha Nam).
In the book "Brief History of Vietnam" compiled during the Tran Dynasty, in the year Dinh Hoi (987), King Le Dai Hanh returned to plow the fields in Doi Son, starting a beautiful custom for kings of later dynasties to follow in promoting agriculture.
The festival is an occasion for Doi Son people in particular and the whole country in general to pray for a bountiful harvest and many victories.
The festival opens with a bustling atmosphere of dragon dances, palanquin processions, offerings and the famous Doi Tam drum performance of Ha Nam.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An (75 years old, residing in Tien Son commune, Duy Tien town, Ha Nam) was honored to "play the role" of King Le Dai Hanh.
This is the 6th year this old man has worn a yellow shirt to reenact the scene of King Le Dai Hanh plowing the fields. The king was the first person to plow the first 3 hectares of rice fields.
Following are the girls sowing seeds.
The seeds are sown with the wish for a year of favorable weather and bountiful crops.
Previously, sharing with PV Dan Viet, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An still remembered the feeling of excitement and anxiety the first time he was informed that he would play the role of King Le Dai Hanh plowing the fields. "I still remember clearly the time my name was called to put on the royal robe to plow the fields, I was very excited. The night before the festival, I was restless and worried. Although I had rehearsed many times before, I myself was not unfamiliar with buffaloes and plows, but the feeling of restlessness was inevitable. Up to now, after many times playing the role of King Le Dai Hanh, putting on the royal robe, plowing in front of many people of Ha Nam, I feel much more confident," said Mr. An.

Tich Dien Festival is an occasion for Ha Nam people in particular and people across the country in general to remember their roots and the fine traditions of our ancestors.
The special dragon dance performance was performed by the Hanoi lion and dragon dance troupe.
Mr. Tien, far right, has participated in the Tich Dien festival for many years. "My buffalo has participated in plowing at the festival, this is the third consecutive year," Mr. Tien said.
Many tourists take photos with buffaloes participating in the Tich Dien festival 2025.
Special music and dance performances are performed to serve local people and tourists from all over.
