During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Binh Thuan was a locality with a system of established resistance bases. This was the headquarters of the resistance leadership of local Party committees and authorities, the place where local armed units and main force troops were based to organize training. At the same time, it was also a place to increase production to get food and provisions to meet the local needs for the resistance, a place to treat wounded soldiers... Many of these bases were also the headquarters of the Regional Party Committee, Inter-Provincial Party Committee, Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee and the South Central Coast. In particular, these bases were also the addresses to receive cadres, soldiers and weapons, military equipment, medicine, food and provisions from the Northern rear to support the Southern battlefield in general and Binh Thuan in particular. In particular, the Sa Lon base area in Dong Giang commune, Ham Thuan Bac district today is where the Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee stood to direct the resistance war for the longest time (more than 8 years). The Sa Lon base area has important functions of always ensuring the secrecy and safety of agencies and units, ensuring smooth leadership and direction, including ensuring the aspects of work, logistics, on-site materials, training of cadres... to serve the requirements of the local revolutionary movement. At this base, there is a strategic corridor connecting with the North, the Central Office of the South, Zone VI, the provinces of Dong Nai, Lam Dong, Tuyen Duc, Ninh Thuan, connecting the guerrilla bases in the plains of Ham Thuan, Ham Tan, Khu Le, Hoa Da, Tuy Phong, Tanh Linh, Hoai Duc, the "concave bases" on the outskirts of Phan Thiet city, forming a widespread network, intertwined and connected to each other, creating an on-site rear for the people's war. Along with the progress of the resistance war against the US, a complete system of bases connecting the areas throughout the province, inter-provinces and provinces with the area has been gradually established. This system of resistance bases, especially the Sa Lon base, was the place to receive policies and instructions from superiors, where resistance policies were discussed, plans were made and forces were organized, and it was the starting point for the attacks of the armed forces and people of Binh Thuan throughout the years of resistance against the US. The victory on April 19, 1975, liberating Phan Thiet town, Binh Thuan province, went down in national history as a brilliant milestone, changing the situation and creating momentum for the Ho Chi Minh Campaign, creating the Great Spring Victory of 1975, completely liberating the South, and unifying the country.

After 50 years of liberation, the army and people of Binh Thuan province continue to join hands and hearts to build their homeland to become increasingly prosperous, worthy of the glorious tradition of patriotism of this steadfast land. If during the resistance war, Binh Thuan was known as a steadfast land of the extreme South Central region with glorious feats of arms, 50 years after liberation, Binh Thuan is known as a land of development in many fields, especially in energy, tourism, industry... After the days of liberation, Binh Thuan had to face many difficulties and challenges left by the war, especially the seriously degraded infrastructure, consecutive droughts have caused the lives of people in the province to face a series of difficulties and challenges. However, the Party Committee, army and people of Binh Thuan province continue to promote revolutionary heroism, solidarity, unanimity, unity, and solidarity, both trying to heal the wounds of war and overcoming difficulties, striving to move forward. Many irrigation, transportation, electricity, health, education, cultural institutions, etc. projects have been invested in. Especially in recent years, when the new rural construction program received the consensus and joint efforts of the people, the infrastructure serving the people's lives and production has been invested, creating a breakthrough in the rural areas of the province. Along with that, the province has gradually formed a number of areas specializing in advantageous crops combined with production chain linkages, especially dragon fruit and rice... For many consecutive years, the province's economy has continued to maintain a fairly good growth momentum. In 2024 alone, the total product in the area (GRDP) increased by 7.25% compared to the previous year. The restructuring of economic sectors continues to be promoted, economic sectors develop evenly, and some of the province's potential advantages are increasingly utilized and exploited better. State budget revenue in 2024 reached 10,700 billion VND, an increase of more than 2.14% over the same period. The economic structure continued to shift in the right direction, gradually reducing the proportion of agriculture, gradually increasing the proportion of industry and services, average income per capita reached 58.4 million VND, an increase of 7.5%. Revenue from tourism activities was 25,530 billion VND, an increase of 14.44% over the previous year. Goods exports increased by 11.26%, showing a positive signal of export enterprises in searching and expanding markets in difficult world economic conditions. In particular, foreign cooperation, investment promotion, and improvement of the investment environment were given attention, creating favorable conditions to attract non-budgetary capital sources. The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is an opportunity for us to review the heroic history of the nation, look back on the journey of building and developing the country, and at the same time, gain a deeper understanding of the values ​​and lessons learned from the practical struggles of the nation to add strength and determination in the work of building and defending the Fatherland, turning the glorious achievements of the past into a driving force to fulfill the historical mission in the new era - the era of striving, developing prosperity, civilization, happiness and prosperity of the Vietnamese people.
