Implementing the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households in 2025, through screening, in Muong Te commune, there are 37 households receiving housing support under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction according to Decision No. 90/QD-TTg dated January 18, 2022 of the Prime Minister and support to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses according to Official Dispatch No. 102/CD-TTg dated October 6, 2024 of the Prime Minister. In particular, along with the supported amount, poor and near-poor households proactively rotate additional capital to invest in building 100% new houses, ensuring the 3 hard criteria.

To help poor and near-poor households eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, the Party Committee and the government of Muong Te commune have actively mobilized the entire political system, increased propaganda, and mobilized cadres, party members, civil servants, public employees and people to join hands to help households in the process of building houses. Associations, unions, militia forces, and commune police support working days to help families dig foundations, level the ground, and roof; poor and near-poor households proactively exchange labor with each other to build their own houses to reduce construction costs... Up to now, Muong Te commune has completed 24 houses, the remaining households are working hard to complete, striving to complete the goal of completely eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses in Muong Te commune by June 20, 2025.

We had the opportunity to visit the family of Ms. Tong Thi Le in Bo village when the family members were busy cleaning and preparing to move into a new house with an area of over 80 square meters. It is known that Ms. Le's family is a poor household, she is a single mother with 2 children of school age. In particular, Ms. Le's health is not as good as many others, she often gets sick and has to go to the hospital for treatment. Understanding that situation, recently her family was supported with 60 million VND to build a new house from the Program to support the elimination of temporary houses and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households according to Official Dispatch No. 102/CD-TTg dated October 6, 2024 of the Prime Minister. During the process of building the house, her family received dedicated and enthusiastic help from the Party Committee, the commune government, relatives, and neighbors in terms of labor days, so in just over 2 months, her family's house was completed, spacious and clean.

Ms. Le excitedly shared: “I am extremely grateful and appreciative to be living in a solid, spacious, airy house like today. This is a great source of encouragement and motivation, giving my family and many other households more motivation to overcome adversity, take care of their children to study well, actively develop the economy and society, and participate in maintaining security and order in the locality.”

The houses of poor and near-poor households in Muong Te commune (Muong Te district) are gradually being completed.

Upstream of the Da River, from the center of Muong Te commune, we traveled more than 20km to Pac Ma, the farthest village of the commune. Here we met Mr. Tong Van Thanh, who was stacking red bricks, quickly completing his family's new house. Stopping to talk to us, Mr. Thanh said: “I live in a remote village with difficult economic conditions, my main source of income is based on small-scale farming and livestock farming. Although I have tried hard to do business, my economy is unstable, living in a cramped, damp house that has seriously degraded. In early 2025, my family received support from our savings, borrowed more from relatives and borrowed 100 million VND from the bank. My wife and I invested in building a solid house with a corrugated iron roof, covering an area of more than 100 square meters. It is expected to be completed in early May. With a new, spacious house, we will now focus on developing the economy and increasing our income.”

Not only Ms. Le's family or Mr. Thanh's, poor and near-poor households in Muong Te commune who received housing support were all excited and tried their best to complete their houses before the rainy season and stabilize their lives. Thereby, contributing to the Party Committee and the Muong Te commune government in completing the goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses, ensuring progress and improving the quality of people's lives.
