Tao Van Ngan's family is one of 13 poor and near-poor households in Ban Hon commune that received financial support from the State to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. Ngan is a single father, and for many years he has worked hard to raise his children alone. The family's life is difficult, with a tight economy that only relies on a few fields and corn fields. The house he has lived in for many years has seriously deteriorated, with many holes in the roof and muddy ground when it rains heavily or is windy. With 60 million VND in support from the Party and the State, Ngan borrowed more from relatives to build a new house. Along with that, he received support from relatives for working days, so the house construction was much easier, and now Mr. Ngan's house is basically completed.
Officials of Ban Hon commune (Tam Duong district) check the progress of house construction for poor and near-poor households in the area.
Hon village is the village that has received support for the removal of a relatively large number of temporary and dilapidated houses in the commune. The village has 13 poor and near-poor households receiving housing support. To speed up the construction progress, the Party Committee and the commune government closely coordinate with the village chief and the Party cell secretary to regularly visit households to propagate and mobilize people to take advantage of favorable weather to carry out construction, and at the same time mobilize households to exchange labor and support construction days to meet the progress before the rainy season.
Tao Van Ngan's family in Na Khum village is in extremely difficult circumstances. His parents are old and weak, and the family of five lives off a few rice fields. For decades, the family members have had to live in a small, cramped, dilapidated wooden house with no means of repair. When the State supported them with 60 million VND, along with the 20 million VND they had saved, the family borrowed an additional 50 million VND to build a new, spacious house worth more than 130 million VND. Ngan's dream of a solid, sturdy house has now come true.
Ban Hon commune has 68 poor and near-poor households supported to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, including 64 newly built houses and 4 repaired houses. Along with the budget supported by the State, the commune propagates and mobilizes families to contribute additional funds (borrow from relatives, preferential loans through policy banks) to build houses that ensure 3 solids. Upon receiving the support funds, Ban Hon commune promptly allocates and disburses funds to ensure publicity, transparency, and the right purpose and target. Thanks to that, the practical significance of the program has spread throughout the community. To date, 25 out of 68 houses in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses have been completed.
Determined to eliminate 68 temporary and dilapidated houses before June 10, Ban Hon commune will continue to promote propaganda work and diversify forms of mobilization, aiming to strongly spread the humane and practical meaning of the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, contributing to the implementation of sustainable poverty reduction and social security policies in the area.
