Shooter Quang Huy brought the first Gold Medal for Vietnam at ASIAD 19

(CPV) - On the morning of September 28, shooter Pham Quang Huy excellently brought home the first Gold Medal for Vietnamese sports at the 19th ASIAD.

After many days of waiting, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation finally officially won the first gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games (Asian Games - ASIAD 19) in shooting.

Accordingly, shooter Pham Quang Huy competed excellently to win the gold medal in the men's 10m air pistol event with 240.5 points, 1.1 points more than the second-placed Korean shooter Lee Wonho. This achievement helped the shooting team complete the mission of winning the 19th ASIAD gold medal and this is also the first gold medal of the Vietnamese delegation at the Games.

Also this morning, the Vietnamese shooting team including Lai Cong Minh, Phan Cong Minh, and Pham Quang Huy won the bronze medal in the men's 10m air pistol team event with 1,730 points.

Pham Quang Huy is currently a shooter for Hai Phong sports. Notably, this shooter's father is the famous former shooter Pham Cao Son, who won many achievements for Vietnamese sports in the past.

Vietnamese shooting has had two notable historical achievements: winning the first gold medal at the Olympics in 2016 with shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh and now winning the first gold medal at the ASIAD with the result of Pham Quang Huy.

Thus, as of 12:00 on September 28, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation has won a total of 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 10 bronze medals. This result helps the Vietnamese Sports Delegation rise to 14th place in the overall medal tally of ASIAD 19./.
