Trung Thanh Commune (Da Bac) has 5 hamlets, 514 households with 1,857 people. In recent times, the Party Committee and People's Committee of the commune have focused on leading and directing poverty reduction work, paying attention to investing in infrastructure, developing production, increasing income, and gradually improving people's lives.
The pig farming model of Ms. Xa Thi Chung's family, Bua hamlet, Trung Thanh commune (Da Bac) provides a stable income.
Comrade Ha Van Hung, Vice Chairman of Trung Thanh Commune People's Committee said: "To promote poverty reduction, the commune has increased propaganda to raise awareness among people, introduced plants and breeds suitable for local conditions into production, in which, oriented people to develop cattle and pig farming, sugarcane growing and forestry development. Taking advantage of investment capital sources and poverty reduction policies, the commune focuses on building and completing infrastructure and roads to serve production, facilitate trade of goods, and develop local socio-economic development".
To develop a sustainable economy , the commune mobilizes people to change their thinking and farming practices, apply science and technology, promote promotion, and find outlets for product consumption. Currently, the whole commune cultivates 145 hectares of rice, 102 hectares of corn, 98 hectares of cassava, 48 hectares of green hemp, and 65 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea. From 2023 to present, the commune has planted 25 hectares of new forest, achieving a forest coverage rate of 65%. The whole commune has developed 410 buffaloes, 862 cows, 1,235 pigs, and 16,500 poultry.
Visiting the livestock model of Ms. Xa Thi Chung's household in Bua hamlet, Ms. Chung shared: "My family has 3 members, starting from a poor household, initially facing many difficulties in economic development. Having participated in technical training courses organized by the district and commune, my family boldly invested in comprehensive crop and livestock farming. Currently, my family raises 20 pigs, grows 1 hectare of acacia, 2,000 m2 of tea, bringing in a stable income, life has become more prosperous, has accumulated, and escaped poverty sustainably."
Green hemp and Shan Tuyet tea are being widely grown in the commune, bringing economic efficiency to many households. The area of green hemp cultivation in the hamlets of Bay, Bua, Trung Thuong continues to be expanded. After a period of cultivation, it has been shown that this type of plant is suitable for local soil and climate conditions; the harvest time is short, after 50 - 60 days it can be harvested, providing income, avoiding damage caused by natural disasters and storms compared to plants with long harvest cycles. At the same time, green hemp is regularly purchased by companies outside the area and traders, and the output of the product is guaranteed. Currently, the whole commune has over 65 hectares of Shan Tuyet tea, which is rated as a 3-star OCOP product, with a yield of 7 - 9 tons/ha, an average output of over 300 tons, of which Phuong Huyen Company invests in machinery, provides technical support to improve quality and guarantee product consumption. Compared to other crops, tea trees are more economically efficient and require less effort to care for. Tea trees also play a role in preventing soil erosion and landslides caused by floods. However, the expansion of tea growing models is still facing difficulties due to limited awareness among people, making it difficult to meet high product standards.
Continuing to invest in infrastructure, roads, and support socio-economic development, in 2023, Trung Thanh commune people donated 25,630 m2 of land, contributed many working days, materials, and equipment to expand and build public works, irrigation, and roads to serve production, travel, and trade. Implementing the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas", the commune focused on capital sources, concreted the 2 km long road in Hamlet Bua - So, the 1.6 km long road in Hamlet Bay - Trung Thuong, cleared many roads...
However, due to the characteristics of a highland commune, harsh climate in winter, frequent natural disasters, floods, so production and cultivation of crops face many difficulties. In addition, irrigation water is mainly taken from streams, making it difficult to be proactive in agricultural production. The commune hopes that all levels and sectors will continue to pay attention to investment, improve infrastructure, support production loans, and guarantee output for local agricultural products, helping people increase income, gradually reduce poverty, and improve life. The average income per capita of the whole commune is currently 30.26 million VND/year, poor households account for 37.14%. The commune meets 10/19 criteria for building new rural areas.
