Ms. Hoang Thi Kim Yen, Director of Nam Dinh General Hospital, said that the unit is verifying information that hospital staff did not provide emergency care to the boy because they had not paid the full hospital fee.
Regarding the incident, a leader of the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health said that this morning, May 4, the Department of Health will work with the hospital's Board of Directors to clarify the content of the reflection.
The boy was transferred to a central hospital for further monitoring and treatment.
On the evening of May 3, social media shared a video of a 2-3 year old boy being run over by a homemade car while playing on the street. Mr. HTT (living in Nam Dinh City, a passerby) took the boy to Nam Dinh General Hospital for emergency treatment.
Due to the urgent situation, Mr. T. only brought 500,000 VND. Saying that he was just a passerby and did not have time to prepare much money, and that the patient's family was on their way to the hospital, Mr. T. asked the doctors to give emergency treatment to the child, but the medical staff insisted that he had to pay the full amount before taking the X-ray.
Too upset, Mr. T. posted information about the incident on social media.
The shared video received much public attention. Many people expressed their anger at the on-duty crew for being so indifferent and insensitive to the child's life.
