Building an urban railway system to demonstrate the aspiration to bring Da Nang to regional level

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Quang Nam said that Da Nang is in a period of transformation towards the goal of becoming a major socio -economic center of the country and Southeast Asia.

Along with growth, pressure on urban transport systems is increasing.

Traffic congestion, environmental pollution and the increasing travel needs of people and tourists are posing significant challenges.

To maintain its growth rate and improve its quality of life, Da Nang needs a breakthrough in its transport infrastructure. The most optimal strategic solution is to build a modern, efficient and sustainable urban railway system.

The urban railway system is not only a means of connection but also a sustainable solution, contributing to reducing traffic congestion, minimizing carbon emissions and encouraging environmentally friendly transportation.

At the same time, the railway lines will promote socio-economic growth, trade, services, tourism and logistics in the surrounding area. This is completely in line with the green and clean development orientation that the city is aiming for.

The urban railway is not just a transportation project, but a work of vision, demonstrating the aspiration to bring Da Nang to the regional level, connecting functional areas, promoting economic growth and creating a greener, cleaner and more beautiful living environment for future generations.

Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Quang Nam emphasized that the workshop aimed to clearly analyze challenges, share experiences and knowledge, and seek sustainable solutions for the implementation of the urban railway system in Da Nang city.

At the workshop, leaders of the Department of Construction of Da Nang city reported on the planning of urban railway lines in the city and the investment plan for the construction of urban railway lines in the city.

Accordingly, in terms of orientation, the city has an urban railway network of over 200km, with investment plans in the period before 2030 and 2031 - 2040, 2041 - 2045.

Delegates participated in the discussion on Hanoi's experience in investing in the construction of urban railway lines; some lessons learned in the process of implementing the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City urban railway line No. 1 project; experience in project management, operation, maintenance and urban development (TOD) of urban railways in Shenzhen city (China) and proposed urban railway network for Da Nang city.

Delegates also listened to presentations on the plan to conduct a comprehensive study on the development of the urban railway network in Ho Chi Minh City; analysis of popular urban railway types worldwide, their advantages and disadvantages, and recommendations for the most suitable model for Da Nang; and new policies to promote the development of the railway sector.

Discussions on railway industry development strategy, experience in technology autonomy and training of high-quality human resources from Korea; lessons learned on developing urban railway systems in China.

Delegates focused on discussing and comparing international experience and Vietnamese practices to select the optimal technology model for Da Nang; specific mechanisms, industrial development and building sustainable human resources for Da Nang railway.
