
This working trip not only gives delegates the opportunity to connect and exchange in depth about the future of higher education , but also opens up many prospects for strategic cooperation and innovation between the two countries, in the context of Vietnam and the UK upgrading their relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, contributing to promoting an increasingly strong partnership in the fields of education, science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.
Going Global 2025 Global Education Conference
The conference is an opportunity to exchange experiences, share knowledge and create connections for UK and Vietnamese higher education. Participating in Going Global 2025, the Vietnamese education leadership delegation connected and discussed with more than 400 education leaders from 50 countries around the world about the issues facing global higher education, which are also issues that no country or educational institution can solve alone.
With the theme “Courage-Value-Creativity: Steadfast and thriving in a changing world”, Going Global 2025 focuses on steadfastness, resilience and the application of innovation, extensive international cooperation and partnerships to achieve success.

At the conference, the Vietnamese delegation actively participated in plenary sessions, parallel sessions, masterclasses, panel discussions and side events. Thereby, delegates shared insights from the Vietnamese educational context, especially on topics such as “Maintaining the role of ensuring the position of higher education in the era of artificial intelligence (AI)” as well as sharing about cooperation and investment policies in the education sector to attract international students and talents in the education and research sector in Vietnam, contributing to sustainable development goals in the economy and society.
On this occasion, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of International Cooperation, Ministry of Education and Training, said that participating in Going Global 2025 demonstrates Vietnam's strong commitment to promoting higher education reform, enhancing international cooperation and developing high-quality human resources.
“We appreciate the British Council’s role in supporting Vietnam through practical cooperation programs, especially Going Global Partnerships, contributing to improving the quality of education and promoting innovation in the context of globalization and digital transformation,” said Ms. Thuy.

UK-Vietnam Higher Education Cooperation Forum
With the theme “Building a strategic and sustainable partnership, towards talent development, promoting innovation and global impact”, the conference continues to affirm its role as a platform for strategic dialogue, promoting sustainable cooperation between higher education institutions of the two countries, while creating momentum for innovation, internationalization and improving the quality of education in the context of globalization and digital transformation.
At the forum, a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam opened the discussion session with a speech entitled “A turning point for Vietnamese higher education - Towards innovation and success”, updating the “four pillars” of strategy and key policies such as Resolution 71-NQ/TW, Decision 1600/QD-TTg, 1002/QD-TTg and 374/QD-TTg.
On this occasion, the British Council introduced the Handbook on Education Cooperation and Investment in Vietnam, a collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Training. The handbook is a comprehensive resource, providing an overview of the education environment, priority policies, investment cooperation processes and opportunities for developing transnational education (TNE) at all levels in Vietnam, contributing to promoting sustainable and quality cooperation between the two countries.

On this occasion, the British Council also introduced the UK–Vietnam iTechPath initiative, a support program for 14 higher education partnerships between 17 UK schools and 18 Vietnamese schools. In parallel, the British Council also supported the establishment of 8 cross-border education partnerships, focusing on building training cooperation and credit recognition in STEM-related fields and new technology between UK and Vietnamese universities.
Within the framework of the forum, delegates witnessed the signing ceremony and exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on training and research cooperation between Vietnamese and UK universities, including: Hanoi University of Science and Technology - Bradford University; Hanoi University of Science and Technology - Swansea University; University of Transport and Communications - Brunel University London; British University Vietnam - Manchester Metropolitan University.
Mr. James Shipton, Director of the British Council in Vietnam, once again expressed his commitment to accompanying Vietnam in initiatives and breakthrough programs for university and science and technology development, through strengthening cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Training, formalized by a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC).
