Patriotic emulation is one of the great, consistent ideas with profound theoretical and practical value in Ho Chi Minh's ideology system, and at the same time is a strong driving force promoting all victories of the Vietnamese revolution.

According to President Ho Chi Minh , patriotic emulation must first of all originate from genuine patriotism, from the will of self-reliance, self-strengthening and the spirit of national solidarity. He considered emulation a method, a measure to organize revolutionary action movements of the masses, aiming to mobilize and promote the potential and creativity of the people in all areas of social life.

Nearly 80 years have passed since President Ho launched the first patriotic emulation movement in 1948, that emulation spirit has always been the flame that fuels the will and strength of the entire nation. Movements such as "Eliminate hunger, eradicate ignorance, eradicate foreign invaders" during the resistance war, to "Sea Waves", "Great Wind", "Three First Flag", "Three Responsibilities", "Three Ready" during the period of building socialism in the North and the resistance war against the US to save the country are vivid evidence of the enduring vitality and great practical value of the patriotic emulation ideology.

During the renovation period, our Party has always considered patriotic emulation as one of the important driving forces to promote socio-economic development, strengthen national defense and security, and build a strong political system. Our Party emphasizes that patriotic emulation is not only the task of a single sector or level, but is the common cause of the entire people and the entire political system. Every organization and individual can and must participate in emulation with practical and effective actions that are appropriate to their functions, tasks, and circumstances.

In recent times, emulation and reward work has achieved many important results. The movements "The whole country joins hands to build new rural areas", "Vietnamese enterprises integrate and develop", "Cadres, civil servants and public employees compete to implement office culture", "All people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas", "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods",... have been spreading widely throughout society, contributing significantly to economic development, political stability, strengthening the great national unity bloc, building the image of a renewed, dynamic, creative, humane and responsible Vietnam.

However, in the context of deep international integration and strong development of information technology, hostile forces, reactionary elements, and political opportunists take advantage of cyberspace and social media to spread false arguments and distort the meaning and value of the patriotic emulation movement. They claim that emulation is just a formality, a propaganda tool, a "virtual achievement", and even fabricate that it is a "waste of resources" or "a way to beautify achievements". This is not only wrong in nature but also aims to erase the value of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, deny the leadership role of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and undermine people's confidence in the path to socialism.

The distorted arguments are clearly absurd when compared with reality. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the spirit of patriotic emulation is clearly demonstrated through humane actions: medical staff volunteered to go to the front line; thousands of volunteers, soldiers, and youth union members participated in the fight against the epidemic; people across the country united, shared, and "helped each other". Or in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and floods, the entire Party, people, and army always joined hands, promptly provided human and financial support to places in difficulty, ensuring the rapid stabilization of people's lives, with the spirit of "no one is left behind"...

Today, emulation is not only limited to traditional fields, but also expanded to new fields such as digital transformation, environmental protection, scientific research, innovation, startups, and international integration. Emulation movements are not only promoted through community activities and mass media, but are also widely deployed on digital platforms, showing that patriotic emulation is flexibly adapting to the times, and is an important driving force to help the country develop sustainably in the new era.

Patriotic emulation also contributes to fostering and consolidating the foundation of social ethics. In the context of a market economy and international integration, when material values ​​tend to prevail, the patriotic emulation movement becomes a driving force to arouse and spread the humanistic values ​​and good ethics of the Vietnamese people.

On October 26, speaking at the 11th National Emulation Congress for Workers and Civil Servants, period 2025-2030, Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central mass organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, proposed 5 key groups of tasks, emphasizing the connection of the emulation movement with the implementation of political tasks; connecting the emulation movement with digital transformation, innovation, and human resource development. The heads of Party committees, organizations, agencies and units must truly set a leading example. Strengthen propaganda work, discover, foster and replicate advanced models, and spread the spirit of patriotic emulation widely in each agency, unit, and production and business establishment.

Every organization and individual can and should participate in emulation with practical, effective actions, appropriate to their functions, tasks and circumstances, because "emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation". Resolutely fight against and reject distorted arguments, manifestations of ideological degradation, indifference, skepticism, and even denial of the patriotic emulation movement, because those are acts against the spirit of national solidarity, against the core values ​​that have created the strength of Vietnam.
