This is the first data center (DC) in Vietnam to reach a super-large scale with a design capacity of over 100 MW, in the top 10 in Southeast Asia, marking an important step forward in the national digital infrastructure development strategy.

The project is deployed on an area of nearly 4 hectares, with a total designed capacity of up to 140 MW and about 10,000 racks. The center applies the international Uptime Tier III standard, with an average power density of 10kW/rack - 2.5 times higher than the average in Vietnam - and a maximum capacity of up to 60kW/rack. This capability allows for the efficient operation of large-scale artificial intelligence (AI) applications, serving the high data processing needs of businesses, government agencies and research organizations.

To optimize operational efficiency, DC uses advanced cooling technology and an AI-integrated smart management system developed by Viettel. Thanks to this, the center is expected to achieve a PUE (power usage efficiency) index of less than 1.4 - the optimal level in the current data center industry, while aiming for a sustainable and environmentally friendly operating model.
This data center will strongly promote the application of modern technologies such as 5G network, cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain and cybersecurity. At the same time, this is also the foundation for forming an innovation ecosystem, training high-quality human resources, and creating many jobs with high added value.
Major General Tao Duc Thang - Chairman and General Director of Viettel - emphasized: “DC Tan Phu Trung is a strategic piece in the digital infrastructure ecosystem that Viettel is creating. We currently operate 15 DCs in Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Binh Duong. This year, Viettel will also complete 20,000 5G broadcasting stations, covering 95% of urban residential areas, ready to provide comprehensive services to people, businesses and the Government.”
Phase 1 of the project is expected to be operational in the first quarter of 2026, with the entire project to be completed before 2030. This project marks a step forward for Vietnam's data infrastructure, and was started on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.
