Building commercial civilization creates competitive advantage in the market

Việt NamViệt Nam14/10/2024

Rapid economic growth combined with the increasingly improved and increased income of the people has promoted the vibrant development of trade and service activities, especially the retail market. Among the many solutions implemented to improve the quality of customer service, businesses and business households have recognized the importance and paid more attention to building a commercial civilization.

According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade, the province currently has 110 traditional markets, 12 shopping malls, supermarkets, more than 100 convenience stores and over 37,000 service and trade establishments and households. In the period of 2021-2024, the total retail sales of goods and service revenue of the whole province is estimated at over 197,500 billion VND; the growth rate over the years has reached double digits. Along with the constantly expanding industrial parks and clusters, attracting a large number of workers from other provinces to live and work, it has created many favorable conditions for the province to develop trade and services, especially in the retail sector. This also means that competition in the retail market is increasingly fierce, especially in the era of industry 4.0 with the strong development of e-commerce. Opportunities go hand in hand with challenges, the requirement for the retail industry is that in addition to investment and innovation in infrastructure, businesses and business households need to pay more attention to creating a safe, civilized business environment that respects consumers.

According to Mr. Hoang Chi Dung, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, commercial civilization in behavioral relationships when trading in the market is considered the most important criterion determining the effectiveness and sustainable development of business activities. Commercial civilization is demonstrated in many aspects, most clearly through the quality of products and services; the attitude and behavior of sellers towards buyers; the relationship between sellers. In addition, commercial civilization is also demonstrated in honesty, responsibility, no fraudulent or dishonest behavior in business activities; business people comply with regulations on environmental protection and food safety. Enterprises and individuals conducting civilized business activities mean that they are building brand image, creating trust for customers, thereby creating a competitive advantage in the market.

Customers can rest assured when scanning the QR code to trace the origin of products at GO! Ha Nam supermarket, Lam Ha ward, Phu Ly city.

In fact, commercial civilization in the retail market has been clearly demonstrated in the system of shopping centers, supermarkets, and convenience stores. With the goal of building a sustainable business strategy and ensuring the best interests of customers, supermarkets all focus on putting product quality first. Along with that, they pay attention to training and building a team of professional staff; trading in goods with clear origin; publicly listed prices; fast and modern payment methods... At supermarkets, commercial civilization is also demonstrated through preferential policies, promotions, discounts; through the image of friendly, open and respectful service staff. From there, it contributes to creating satisfaction and building a long-term relationship between suppliers of goods and services and customers. Ms. Nguyen Thi Trang, Store Manager of Winmart+ store, Ly Thuong Kiet street, Phu Ly city said: At Winmart+, all employees from the time they start working are trained in sales skills and building a commercial civilization. The important content in building a commercial civilization is how to make customers satisfied with the quality of service. Sales policies must bring the most benefits to customers. In the past, in order to "please customers coming, satisfy customers going", in addition to improving the quality of products and services during the shopping process at the store, Winmart+ also arranged a team of staff to support customers with free home delivery in case the quantity of goods in the order is large.

Along with the development of modern business methods that are bringing practical benefits to consumers, the traditional market network still occupies an important position in the commercial system. It is not only a long-standing familiar shopping place for people but also a place to preserve many cultural features, a place to connect communities in residential areas. In order for traditional markets not to be "inferior" in the competition in the retail market and to be more suitable to current consumer tastes, in localities in the province, the traditional market system has been renovated, newly built, synchronized with the planning of construction of residential areas, traffic works, ensuring environmental sanitation. In particular, some traditional markets have changed their management methods, actively implemented measures to rectify market operations, gradually building a civilized commercial culture. In which, Bau market (Phu Ly city) is an example. If more than ten years ago, city residents were very apprehensive when shopping at the market because of the situation of overpricing, cheating on scales and the disrespectful attitude of sellers towards buyers, now, all of those limitations have been improved. In recent times, the Bau Market Management Board has implemented many solutions to build a civilized commercial market model such as investing in infrastructure; equipping enough fire prevention and fighting equipment; balancing scales to protect consumer rights; doing a good job of environmental sanitation, disease prevention, etc. The traders in the market themselves have also had a better awareness of implementing civilized commerce, not overpricing, posting prices of goods, changing sales methods, arranging stalls in a more civilized direction to satisfy consumers. Ms. Dinh Thi Loan, owner of a stall selling vegetables, tubers and some dried goods at Bau market, said: In the past time, traders in the market have participated in many training sessions, propaganda, and dissemination of knowledge about food hygiene and safety, trading goods with origin, environmental sanitation, price listing, cashless payment application, knowledge, skills and business ethics organized by the relevant authorities. Thanks to that, customers coming to Bau market now no longer complain about the quality, price or question the origin of the products. The quality of service is also highly appreciated by customers.

In addition to the achieved results, the construction of commercial civilization in some markets and shops has not received due attention, because the situation of under-weighing, cheating, overpricing, trading in fake and poor quality goods, contempt for customers, and unfriendly speech still occurs. To survive and develop sustainably in the new situation, businesses and business households must know how to adjust themselves to suit market trends. The sellers themselves need to keep their "trust", behave in a civilized manner in business, actively build commercial civilization, and put the interests of customers first. In addition, market management also needs to be strengthened to create a safe shopping environment for consumers.
