Tanker truck overturned on the way to Sa Pa, crushing and killing 3 family members

At noon on June 11, a serious accident occurred on National Highway 4D, passing through Dong Tuyen commune ( Lao Cai city, Lao Cai).

At the time of the traffic accident, the concrete tanker with Lao Cai license plate was traveling from Lao Cai city to Sa Pa town. When reaching Giang Thang village, Dong Tuyen commune, the vehicle suddenly overturned, crushing a motorbike with 3 people and a pickup truck parked on the side of the road.

The accident left two people on the motorbike dead on the spot. A woman on the motorbike was injured and taken to the emergency room. After the collision, the pickup truck sped forward and then collided with another motorbike. At the scene, the vehicles were severely damaged.

Initially, authorities determined that the victims were from the same family, with the two deceased victims being a father and son. At the time of the incident, there was no one in the pickup truck that was crushed, and the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

On the same afternoon, a representative of the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Safety Committee said that at around 10:30 a.m. on June 11, Mr. Trinh Quang S. (34 years old, residing in Lao Cai City, Lao Cai) was driving a concrete mixer truck with license plate 24C-064.93 on National Highway 4D, in the direction of Lao Cai City - Sa Pa town.

When reaching Km135+500, in the area of Giang Thang village (Dong Tuyen commune, Lao Cai city), this tanker truck collided with motorbike 24B3-169.xx driven by Mr. L.D.C. (30 years old, residing in Thong Nhat commune, Lao Cai city), carrying his wife, Ms. Ha Thi B. (27 years old, 6 months pregnant) and son Luong Duc T. (2 years old) traveling in the opposite direction.

The accident left Mr. C and his son dead on the spot, and Ms. B. died later at Lao Cai General Hospital. Tanker truck driver Trinh Quang S., 34 years old, suffered minor injuries.

According to the Provincial Traffic Safety Committee, immediately after the accident occurred, Lao Cai Provincial Police directed functional forces to take the injured to the emergency room, protect the scene, direct traffic, examine the scene, perform an autopsy, and investigate the cause of the accident.

At the same time, authorities conducted alcohol and drug tests on concrete truck driver Trinh Quang S. The results determined that this driver had no alcohol or drugs in his body.

Currently, Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Police Department is coordinating with Lao Cai City Police to investigate the cause of the accident.
