Stirring up the case of a flight attendant mistakenly giving a 3-year-old child alcohol on a plane

(Dan Tri) - A 3-year-old boy was served a glass of water by a flight attendant but it tasted sour. His mother quickly discovered it was white wine. The incident happened on a flight from Hong Kong (China) to London (UK).

Recently, an incident occurred on a Cathay Pacific Airways flight, causing a stir in public opinion due to a mistake by the flight attendant.

The incident occurred in late April, but was just reported by Chinese media on May 7.

Specifically, in the business class cabin of the flight, a 3-year-old boy traveling with his parents wanted to drink water and was served a drink of a white liquid by a flight attendant.

However, the boy insisted that the "water" tasted sour, so the mother checked again. The passenger discovered that her son had been mistakenly served white wine and reported the incident to the flight crew.

The mother posted the entire incident on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu last week, expressing concern about whether the 3-year-old boy’s drinking of wine could cause long-term health problems. She also asked the airline to explain clearly how it would prevent similar incidents.

The mother said that so far her son has not experienced any unpleasant symptoms so she has not requested a medical examination.

For its part, Cathay Pacific Airways offered to refund the boy's ticket, provide a seat upgrade voucher for the family and was willing to cover the cost of medical examination.

"We understand that exposing young children to alcohol can have neurological, developmental, or physiological effects that may not be immediately apparent. We are currently working with pediatricians to arrange a comprehensive medical evaluation," the airline said.

Meanwhile, the passenger said he received an apology from the airline. However, the airline did not provide a solution to prevent similar incidents in the future.

"This is one of the leading airlines in Asia but ignores basic protection measures in business class. Thus, any family traveling can be at risk," the passenger expressed his opinion.
