Xuan Truong develops diverse agricultural economic models

From the results of land consolidation and plot exchange in the implementation of the new rural construction program, Xuan Truong district has concentrated and accumulated land to form large production areas, arranged fields, built embankments, invested in traffic systems, and internal irrigation systems to facilitate irrigation, transportation of production materials, and harvesting products by mechanical means. Thereby, creating favorable conditions for businesses and individuals who need to rent and borrow for agricultural commodity production and investment, promoting the application of technical advances and mechanization of production stages to reduce investment costs and increase production efficiency. Xuan Truong is one of the first districts in the province to successfully build a joint venture model, linking businesses and farmers in agricultural commodity production. Up to now, the district has 80 large fields, 8 linkage models, 5 enterprises and over 100 organizations and individuals concentrating and accumulating 852 hectares of high-quality rice varieties, rice seeds and various vegetables. Typically, Cuong Tan Company Limited has accumulated land and linked with 13 groups of farmer households to invest in producing F1 hybrid rice seeds, on a scale of 50 hectares in Xuan Ninh commune, creating thousands of additional working days each year for local farmers; Hoang Dieu Trading Joint Stock Company has accumulated land and invested in producing 13 hectares of medicinal plants (polyscias fruticosa, gac fruit) combined with livestock and aquaculture in the alluvial areas of Xuan Thanh and Xuan Tan communes, bringing in income 4-6 times higher than growing rice... The average rice yield of the district is 125.2 quintals/ha/year; the production value per 1 hectare of cultivation in 2024 is 145 million VND.

Livestock farming has developed strongly in both quantity and quality, shifting from small-scale farming to concentrated farming according to the farm model, ensuring disease safety and environmental hygiene. Currently, the district has 30 farm farms. Of which, there is a large-scale farm of Japfa Comfeed Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Xuan Ninh commune with a scale of more than 1,200 sows that has been granted a certificate of eligibility for livestock farming by the Department of Agriculture and Environment. 100% of pig farms in the district use automatic drinking trough systems, over 50% of farms have cooling systems using engines, the provision of feed for pigs and piglets all use silos to store feed to ensure hygiene and food safety. Taking advantage of the two large rivers (Red River and Ninh Co River) flowing through, many households along the river have invested capital to develop cage fish farming with the main farming objects being traditional fish, fish with high economic value such as catfish, crispy carp, etc. There are two traditional fish production, preliminary processing and processing establishments that have been granted certificates of food safety eligibility: Xuan Hoa Aquaculture Production and Service Cooperative, Xuan Phuc Commune with production and business items being catfish, black carp, grass carp and Tran Thanh Nam Business Household, Xuan Vinh Commune with production and business items being black carp, grass carp, and carp.

In addition to shifting the mindset from agricultural production to agricultural economy, developing value chains towards circular economy, ecological agriculture, organic agriculture, Xuan Truong district also forms integrated "multi-value" products, develops rural tourism associated with preserving and promoting cultural values, protecting the environment and preserving bright - green - clean - beautiful landscapes, promoting traditional cultural values. A typical example is the bottled water production model of Dang Van Bien business household, Xuan Hong commune with Vina Hanh Thien drinking water product recognized as a 3-star OCOP product; the model has attracted and created jobs for 15 workers with an average income of over 5 million VND/person/month. The model of producing spring rolls, ham, and sausages of the Bui Quang Dien production and business household in Xuan Phuc commune with products such as spring rolls, ham, and sausages, of which 2 products are recognized as 3-star OCOP products, creates jobs for 6 workers, with an average income of 5-7 million VND/person/month. The model of producing Hom Xuan Thanh rice combined with exploiting earthworms of Truong Khoa Tourism Joint Stock Company in Xuan Thanh commune with an output of over 20 tons of rice/year and over 2 tons of earthworms/year attracts and creates jobs for 10 regular workers and 30 seasonal workers with an average income of 7-8 million VND/person/month...

Thanks to the innovation in agricultural thinking, the agricultural economy of Xuan Truong district has had positive qualitative changes. The proportion of agriculture and aquaculture in the economic structure has decreased, but the economic value has increased,... The national target program on building new rural areas has achieved many important and outstanding results. Up to now, 100% of communes and towns in the district have met the advanced new rural standards; 7/13 communes have been recognized as model new rural areas, Xuan Truong town has been recognized as meeting civilized urban standards, Xuan Phuc commune has met smart commune standards; 140/167 villages, hamlets, and residential groups have been recognized as meeting the standards of model new rural residential areas.

Diverse and effective agricultural and rural economic models have been making important contributions to the socio-economic development of Xuan Truong district. The flexibility and daring of farmers combined with local support policies have created positive changes, creating an important foundation for local development in the new context, the era of the homeland and country.
