This is an event marking the rice products from the Project "Sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta by 2030" with the brand name "Green Vietnamese rice, low emissions" being introduced to the export market.
Significant milestone in realizing the 1 million hectare rice project
Associate Professor, Dr. Bui Ba Bong, Chairman of VIETRISA, said that in order to promptly serve the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice, the Association has developed the brand "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emission" with the coordination and support of agencies of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment , international organizations including the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the Netherlands Development Organization (Rice Value Chain Transformation Project - TRVC) and the World Bank.
Currently, VIETRISA has completed the construction and promulgation of the Regulations on the use of the "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions" trademark. VIETRISA, in coordination with the TRVC project, has granted Certificates of Right to Use the "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions" trademark to 7 enterprises with a total volume of 19,200 tons of rice.
Accordingly, the first batch of rice exported using the "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions" brand from Vietnam to Japan was held at Trung An Company's factory, with an internationally standardized production process from receiving raw materials to packaging for export.
Commenting on the event, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan emphasized: This is a significant milestone in the process of realizing the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality rice cultivation area, reducing emissions. This event is the beginning of a new way of thinking, a new way of doing things, where each grain of rice is not only associated with profit, but also with the life of the land, water, climate, and future generations.
According to the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, farmers dare to change their habits to enter the path of greener-cleaner-more sustainable production. Cooperatives and businesses are not afraid to invest, connect, trace origins, and standardize farming processes. Agricultural extension teams, scientists, and environmental experts have quietly contributed to changing the way of thinking from the fields to the conference table. Among them are management agencies, including the Vietnam Rice Industry Association and industry associations, who have pioneered market connections.
Sharing at the ceremony, Dr. Cao Duc Phat, former Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, former President of the International Rice Research Institute expressed: "From the early days when IRRI and Vietnam joined hands to cooperate in research on low-emission farming techniques in the "One million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice" program, we believed that Vietnamese agriculture not only needs to produce a lot, but also needs to produce cleanly and sustainably. And more importantly, we must put farmers at the center of all policies and technologies".
Dr. Cao Duc Phat said: When doing field work in the Mekong Delta provinces, he witnessed the positive changes of farmers. From initial concerns about changing farming practices, to trust and excitement when seeing the practical effects of increased income, reduced costs, and importantly, contributing to environmental protection.
"Today, the answer is clear. Farmers not only have increased income, but are also proud to be those who contribute to protecting the global environment. They are not only food producers, but also "green warriors" in the fight against climate change," said Dr. Cao Duc Phat.

Vietnam pioneers in bringing low-emission rice to market
The introduction of the first batch of rice, up to tens of thousands of tons, under the brand name "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions", including the first batch of rice exported to Japan, proves that Vietnam is the first country in the world to bring low-emissions rice to the market, including for export.
The 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice project has successfully implemented many pilot models. From 2025, the project will enter the production expansion phase with high-quality, low-emission rice fields, starting with the export of the "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emission" brand, which will move towards developing a certification label and national brand of low-carbon Vietnamese rice according to the goals of the 1 million hectares project, for the sustainability and prosperity of the rice industry and to enhance the position and image of Vietnamese rice in the world.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam emphasized that this is a process of profound change in awareness and action of each citizen, enterprise and agricultural sector officer who has worked tirelessly and persistently for this brand, in which Trung An High-Tech Agriculture Company is one of the leading companies to participate in this project.
This also proves that sustainable farming processes can be widely applied in the Mekong Delta and bring encouraging results and values to people, businesses and the State.
Through this event, it can be affirmed that we have been and are orienting correctly for a new stage of rice production in the Mekong Delta to overcome the situation of "good harvest, low price", overcome the situation of unsustainable production, and ensure the quality of Vietnamese rice to meet the world's sustainable development standards.

Accordingly, Trung An Company has entered into a joint venture with Murase Group (Japan) to cooperate in growing many high-quality rice varieties in the Mekong Delta. In 2024, the two sides will continue to upgrade their cooperation in growing many types of rice according to the "Green Vietnamese Rice, Low Emissions" standard under the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice.
This cooperation has yielded very good results with Murase Group continuing to promote joint ventures and strong cooperation to improve the quality of Vietnamese rice, especially exports to the Japanese market.
"This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese rice industry with the active participation of the State, international organizations, local authorities, especially farmers and cooperatives to position Vietnamese rice in the world," Mr. Pham Thai Binh stated.
The "Low emission green Vietnamese rice" label is granted by VIETRISA to rice products produced according to the Technical Process of the 1 million hectare Project, which is confirmed by local authorities/agricultural sector (commune level) or specialized international organizations, ensuring the origin (place of rice production, rice variety name, crop season) and compliance with the technical process of producing high-quality and low-emission rice of the current 1 million hectare high-quality and low-emission rice Project.
