Attending the program were former Politburo member and former President Nguyen Minh Triet.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Thu, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Former Teachers, emotionally recalled the heroic historical days, the brave fighting period and the moment on April 30, 1975, when our soldiers raised the flag on the Independence Palace, forcing the Saigon government to surrender unconditionally.
Teachers attending the meeting
"In the revolutionary forces at that time, there were many teachers in the inner city, teachers who went to B to participate in the revolution and worked in enemy territory. Every day, this force stood on the podium, using their words and pens toeducate the young generation, students, and pupils to hate the invaders, awaken the revolution, become commando soldiers, union cadres, and patriotic masses to take up arms and participate in the fight to liberate the South," Ms. Yen Thu recalled.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen Thu, President of the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Former Teachers, visited colleagues at the meeting.
After the liberation day, the team of teachers from B and inner-city teachers worked in teaching and management at high schools and vocational schools, contributing to the education and training of students to become intellectuals who joined hands to build the city and serve the country.
Delegates participating in the discussion program
Speaking at the discussion, teacher Tran To Nga, former Principal of the Technical Pedagogical School - famous for her lawsuit against American chemical corporations that supplied the US military with Agent Orange/dioxin for use in the Vietnam War, shared: "On April 30, 50 years ago, my 5-month-old child and I were released from prison. For me, the day the country was liberated was also the day I was free. During those fierce days, despite facing countless threats and temptations to surrender, I still kept my faith in the revolution. During the war, countless teachers endured brutal beatings and torture, and the hardships I personally experienced were only a small part of the common losses of countless colleagues present here. We, those who crossed Truong Son in the flames of war, are still proud today because we were once steadfast soldiers, contributing a small part to the cause of national liberation."

Educator - Dr. Ho Thieu Hung, former Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, sent a message to today's young generation: "These days, on all social networking sites, people are happily taking to the streets to welcome the parades, marches, and art programs celebrating the 50th anniversary of national reunification. In that exciting moment, I hope that everyone will stop for a few minutes to remember the previous generations. Each young person should know how to cherish each lesson, each family meal, each peaceful moment. Today's peace was exchanged for the blood of the previous generation, those who fell without asking for any title. I hope the young generation will always live with gratitude and preserve the good qualities of the Vietnamese people."
