Yamal extended his contract for 6 years, with a 'huge' salary increase
17-year-old star Lamine Yamal, represented by the famous "super agent" Jorge Mendes, has reached an agreement to extend his contract with FC Barcelona through a "huge" contract lasting 6 years (until June 2031) with an option to extend for the following year. This contract will be signed on May 27, but will be officially announced when Yamal turns 18 on July 13.

"Yamal has agreed to all the terms set by Barcelona, including a salary adjustment that will be significant to suit his current and future role in the team. In particular, Yamal's new salary will increase very dramatically," Marca said.
According to Spanish press, Yamal currently receives a salary of about 1.67 million euros (about 49.2 billion VND)/year. But in the new contract, the salary has increased many times, estimated at up to 9 million euros/year (about 265.5 billion VND). However, this is only the salary for the first year, in the following years, Yamal's salary will gradually increase and will reach the highest level of 18 million euros/year (more than 531 billion VND/year) until the contract expires.
With this salary, Yamal is not the highest paid player at Barcelona, surpassing veteran players like Lewandowski or Frenkie de Jong as rumored. This is in line with the Catalan team's adjusting policy to stabilize the salary fund, according to Marca .
Previously, Cadena SER channel revealed that Yamal demanded a salary of up to 40 million euros/year (about 1,180 billion VND). However, Barcelona's sports director, Mr. Deco, denied it and said: "Yamal does not demand such a large salary. He loves Barcelona and only wants to stay with the team for a long time. Yamal's salary is also suitable for the new project the club is building and looking towards the future."

Signing a 6-year extension with Yamal, Barcelona also tied this talented player with a contract termination clause of up to 1 billion euros (about more than 29,000 billion VND), ending all possibilities of being lured by big clubs like PSG or Man City. The Catalan team also gave Yamal the great honor of wearing the number 10 shirt left by Messi, starting from the upcoming 2025-2026 season.
Since Messi left Barcelona (August 2021), this number 10 shirt has belonged to player Ansu Fati. However, this player, now 22 years old, has lost his form in the last 2 seasons due to injury.
Fati has decided to leave Barcelona (despite his contract until June 2027) and is in talks to join Monaco for a fee of around €20 million. Super agent Jorge Mendes, who also represents Fati, went to Monaco to negotiate and finalised the deal earlier this week, Marca confirmed.
Premier League giants will dominate the transfer market
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, will make a "blockbuster" deal when making the first offer to recruit attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee of 100 million euros (2,950 billion VND) with additional fees.

"Negotiations between the two clubs are currently ongoing and will restart on May 27 in the hope of completing the deal soon. Wirtz has told Bayer Leverkusen that he only wants to join Liverpool. The deal is only waiting for the transfer fee to be agreed between the two clubs," Fabrizio Romano added.
Meanwhile, journalist Ben Jacobs, also a transfer news expert, said: "Arsenal are actively working in the transfer market to find an expensive striker to add to the current squad to complete. The "Gunners" are evaluating two strikers Benjamin Sesko (from RB Leipzig) or Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP).

Both players have transfer fees of at least 80 million euros or more. Chelsea and Liverpool also want Sesko. Meanwhile, MU is interested in Gyokeres, a former student of coach Amorim. However, because MU does not participate in the European Cup, it is very difficult to convince this player to join. The target of "That Devil" could be striker Liam Delap (from Ipswich Town).
In addition, Arsenal have lost hope of recruiting striker Alexander Isak (offering up to 150 million euros), because Newcastle Club has won a place in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, veteran midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has reached an agreement to join Napoli, passing up the chance to play in the MLS in the United States. Napoli president De Laurentiis officially confirmed the news and revealed that De Bruyne and his wife have bought a villa in Napoli.
