Yen Khanh implements production plan for 2024 Summer-Autumn crop

On the morning of May 16, Yen Khanh District People's Committee held a conference to summarize the 2023 Summer-Autumn crop production and deploy the 2024 Summer-Autumn crop production plan.

In the 2023 Summer-Autumn Crop, thanks to favorable weather conditions and close leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities from the district to the grassroots level in implementing plans, organizing production, and protecting crops, agricultural production has achieved many successes. The total cultivated area of the district reached 8,254 hectares, of which the rice area was 7,616.5 hectares. The total production value reached 455,226 million VND. The production value/ha of cultivated land reached 55.16 million VND.

The district's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has coordinated with the district's Agricultural Service Center to do a good job of transferring scientific and technical advances, building models for applying technical advances in intensive cultivation of rice and other crops; inspecting and checking agricultural materials, and estimating and forecasting the situation of pests and diseases in a timely and accurate manner.

Infrastructure for agricultural production continues to be repaired and upgraded to basically meet production requirements. Prices of fertilizers and agricultural materials are stable, rice prices are high. Many models of linking production and consumption of agricultural products operate effectively. Areas infected with weedy rice have decreased sharply, with no areas heavily infected.

The crop structure has been transformed towards high economic value. In 2023, the whole district converted 9.82 hectares of ineffective rice land to annual crops and fruit trees. Many high-value vegetables continue to be cultivated such as sweet corn, green squash, pumpkin, beans, vegetables, etc.

Identifying that the 2024 Summer-Autumn crop will face many difficulties due to unusual weather, complex pests, large areas of weedy rice, labor shortages, etc., Yen Khanh district has developed specific solutions and implementation plans to ensure safe and successful production.

In particular, focus on quickly harvesting spring rice with the motto "greener at home than ripe in the fields". Strengthen propaganda for people to change the method from sowing to hand and machine planting. Expand the area of high-quality rice in the direction of organic, apply scientific and technical advances and continue to transform the crop structure towards high economic value. Continue to effectively implement the policies to support agricultural production of the province and district. In the 2024 Winter-Spring Crop, Yen Khanh district strives to plant 8,138.5 hectares, of which rice is 7,646.9 hectares; the area of high-quality rice, glutinous rice, and specialty rice reaches over 75%; the area of transplanted rice reaches over 70%.
