Request to handle the case of cannonball flying "stray" into the audience area in Hue

Previously, many clips were circulated on social networks recording the scene of fireworks after being fired from the cannon on the Flag Tower - Ngo Mon Square in Hue on the evening of May 3, crossing the Ho Thanh Moat (the canal in front of the Hue Citadel at the Flag Tower), falling into the Phu Van Lau area - where many people and tourists, including children, were watching the program. Many people panicked and ran away when the bright red fireworks fell near them. Fortunately, no one was injured.

The cannon firing program is organized by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center every Saturday at 7:15 p.m. to serve the community and promote Hue culture. The May 3 incident was the second firing in this series of events.

Immediately after the incident, the Hue Monuments Conservation Center (the organizer) apologized to the locals and visitors, and admitted that there were technical problems that affected the safety of some viewers. The organization committed to reviewing the entire technical process, learning from experience, and ensuring absolute safety for the next events.

The Department of Grassroots Culture requests the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to verify relevant information and inspect the organization of the above activities according to the provisions of Decree 137/2020/ND-CP and Decree 56/2023/ND-CP of the Government on the management and use of fireworks. In case of detecting violations, it is required to strictly handle them according to authority.
