100% of Vietnamese students won gold medals at the International Math Olympiad

From April 21 to 26, in the capital Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), a delegation of Vietnamese students participated in the 2nd Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad.

To prepare for the exam, the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology was assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) to preside over training and organize the participating delegation.

The team was selected based on the results of the 2025 regional and international Olympic team selection exam, aiming to create conditions for many Vietnamese students to participate in international academic exchange activities, expand learning opportunities and improve capacity.

The Vietnamese student delegation attending the 2nd International Mathematical Olympiad in Turkmenistan all won gold medals.

The contestants who won Gold medals include: Nguyen Tri Hau and Nguyen Tri Hien, Nguyen Binh Khiem High School for the Gifted ( Quang Nam ), Nguyen Phuc Nguyen, Newton Secondary and High School (Hanoi), Tran Quang Nhat, Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted (Da Nang), Lai Gia Khai, High School for the Gifted (Hanoi) and Vu Viet Ha, Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong).

According to regulations, the Organizing Committee officially awards prizes to 50% of participating contestants, in which the ratio of Gold, Silver, Bronze medals is 1:2:3.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded certificates of merit to students who achieved the maximum score for a math problem. The test took place in one day, with the test consisting of 5 problems, each problem worth 10 points, and the test time was 5 hours.

The results achieved by the contestants at the Turkmenistan Mathematical Olympiad are not only the pride of the Vietnamese education sector but also a testament to the thinking power and problem-solving ability of the young generation of Vietnam.
