Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan, Permanent Vice President of the Central Theoretical Council, affirmed that revolutionary journalism is a sharp weapon in the struggle and construction under the leadership of the Party. With the first milestone being Thanh Nien Newspaper - the mouthpiece of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association - the predecessor organization of the Communist Party of Vietnam founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc, revolutionary journalism was born as a historical necessity, meeting the urgent needs of the process of campaigning to establish the Communist Party of Vietnam.
“Revolutionary journalism is not only a witness to history but also a real bridge between the Party and the people. Journalists are truly revolutionary soldiers, using pens and paper as sharp weapons to serve the people and the revolution,” affirmed Professor, Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan.
From the perspective of social criticism journalism to create consensus, Associate Professor Dr. Do Chi Nghia, full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society, said that the press is a popular means of communication, has a strong social impact, and is an effective tool on the ideological front. According to Associate Professor Dr. Do Chi Nghia, social criticism is a regular activity of the press. It is the exchange, debate, and presentation of different views and opinions on events and issues arising in social life, which have profound significance to the community or have a great impact on society.
In his speech on building and developing a professional, humane, and modern Vietnamese revolutionary press that meets the requirements and tasks of the new era, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky, Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, pointed out the need to carry out digital transformation in press agencies, develop multimedia journalism, and focus on popular content, fighting corruption and negativity, etc. to attract readers today.

In his concluding remarks at the workshop, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the opinions and presentations clearly demonstrated the scientific spirit, seriousness, depth, enthusiasm, responsibility and, above all, pride in the great achievements on the glorious 100-year journey of Vietnam's revolutionary press.
According to comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, to build and develop Vietnam's revolutionary press in the new era, first of all, it is necessary to continue to affirm that the press is a sharp ideological and cultural tool of the Party, therefore, maintaining the Party's leadership is an immutable principle. That is also the fundamental guarantee for the Party's character, orientation, revolutionary and humane nature of the country's press.
“In the new context - with complex changes in the world situation, the strong development of digital technology, multi-platform media, and artificial intelligence - it is even more necessary to maintain the Party's leadership role as a consistent axis, ensuring that the press develops in the right direction, contributing to maintaining political stability, consolidating the great national unity bloc, creating social consensus and people's trust in the cause of innovation", Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized.
The Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission emphasized that it is necessary to continue to build, consolidate and elevate a future generation of journalists with "sharp pens - pure hearts - bright minds", imbued with the spirit of serving the country and the people; build institutions and policies with orientation and create an environment for the healthy development of the press.
In particular, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia said that the press needs to promote research, exploitation and application of scientific and technological achievements, especially information technology and artificial intelligence (AI); carry out digital transformation of the press associated with administrative reform, building professional press agencies, operating effectively, efficiently and internationally; strengthen the presence of revolutionary press on social networking platforms, master the information and propaganda front in the face of the development of cross-border digital platforms; maintain the brand and position of Vietnamese press in the flow of international press and media, contributing to the successful implementation of the task of building and defending the Fatherland in the new era.
In addition, he also requested to improve the economic efficiency of journalism; promote international cooperation in journalism and media.
The conference's organizing committee will distill delegates' contributions into proposals and recommendations to report to General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders for comments on building a strategy for developing revolutionary journalism in the new era.
