12 outstanding landmarks of Thai Binh City
Over 20 years of construction and development, Thai Binh City has made remarkable progress, achieving many important accomplishments and leaving a prominent mark in all areas of socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, building a clean and strong political system, and actively contributing to the construction and protection of the homeland. On this occasion, Investment Newspaper has selected 12 of the most outstanding events.

1. Great news came to the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh town when, on April 29, 2004, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed Decree No. 117/2004/ND-CP establishing Thai Binh City directly under the province, based on the entire natural area and population of Thai Binh town. Thai Binh City has an area of 4,330 hectares and a population of 143,925, comprising 13 administrative units, including the wards of Le Hong Phong, Bo Xuyen, De Tham, Ky Ba, Quang Trung, Phu Khanh, Tien Phong, Tran Lam, and the communes of Hoang Dieu, Dong Hoa, Phu Xuan, Vu Chinh, and Vu Phuc.
2. On December 13, 2007, in Decree No. 181/2007/ND-CP, the Prime Minister recognized the adjustment of administrative boundaries of Dong Hung District, Kien Xuong District, and Vu Thu District to expand Thai Binh City, merging five communes (Dong Tho, Dong My, Vu Dong, Vu Lac, and Tan Binh) into Thai Binh City, adjusting the administrative boundaries of wards and communes, and establishing Tran Hung Dao Ward and Hoang Dieu Ward in Thai Binh City.
3. On December 12, 2013, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 2418/QD-TTg recognizing Thai Binh City as a type II urban area directly under Thai Binh province.
On April 7, 2014, Thai Binh province and Thai Binh city solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Decision recognizing Thai Binh city as a type II urban area of Thai Binh province and to receive the Third-Class Independence Order awarded by the President of Vietnam.

4. The year 2019 marked another milestone when Thai Binh City completed its new rural development program. On April 13, 2020, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 512/QD-TTg recognizing Thai Binh City as having completed its new rural development program.
5. On December 12, 2020, Thai Binh province and Thai Binh city solemnly held the inauguration ceremony for the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Temple and the Ho Chi Minh Monument with Vietnamese Farmers at Thai Binh Square, a 28-hectare area along the Tra Ly River, Hoang Dieu ward, Thai Binh city.
6. On November 25, 2021, the Executive Committee of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 03 "On the construction and development of Thai Binh City until 2030, with a vision to 2045," striving to have Thai Binh City recognized as a Type I urban area directly under the province by 2025, to be among the group of moderately developed urban areas by 2030, and among the leading urban areas of the Red River Delta region by 2045, becoming one of the important socio-economic centers of the region.

7. On June 21, 2023, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued Decision No. 1261/QD-UB approving the General Planning Project for the construction of Thai Binh City until 2035 with a vision to 2050. The planning scope includes the entire administrative area of Thai Binh City with 19 wards and 10 communes that are expected to be expanded.
8. After 20 years of establishment, the city's area has reached nearly 7,000 hectares, with a population of over 218,000 people, comprising 19 administrative units, including 10 wards (Bo Xuyen, Ky Ba, Quang Trung, Tran Hung Dao, Tien Phong, Tran Lam, Hoang Dieu, Phu Khanh, Le Hong Phong, De Tham) and 9 communes (Phu Xuan, Tan Binh, Vu Phuc, Vu Chinh, Vu Lac, Dong My, Dong Hoa, Dong Tho).
9. The city's economy has grown at a relatively high rate, with rapid growth in industry, construction, and services, while agriculture has declined sharply. Large industrial zones such as Phuc Khanh, Nguyen Duc Canh, and Song Tra have been established, along with industrial clusters like Phong Phu and Tran Lam… Many key roads have been put into operation, such as the Southern Ring Road, Vo Nguyen Giap, Ky Dong, Le Quy Don, and the extended Chu Van An… along with modern bridges, contributing to the strong expansion of urban space on both banks of the Tra Ly River.
In 2023, the total value of production reached VND 51,066.5 billion, accounting for 25% of the province's total product, and per capita income reached VND 78 million/year. Over 2,500 businesses are operating stably, creating jobs for more than 80,000 workers. State budget revenue consistently met and exceeded targets. For two consecutive years (2022, 2023), Thai Binh City ranked first in the District Competitiveness Index (DDCI).
10. Culture and society, especially education and healthcare, consistently rank among the top in the province; social security is ensured; the quality of life for the people has improved significantly; and the poverty rate has decreased sharply. Party building and the political system are given due attention. The administrative apparatus has been reorganized towards a streamlined, effective, and efficient structure. National defense and security have been strengthened, and social order and safety have been maintained.
11. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Thai Binh town (June 30, 1954 - June 30, 2024) and the 20th anniversary of the construction and development of Thai Binh City, the Executive Committee of the Thai Binh City Party Committee respectfully launches the book "History of the Thai Binh City Party Committee, 2000-2020" to all cadres, Party members, people of the City, and readers near and far.
12. On June 26, 2024, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, To Lam, signed Decision No. 611/QD-CTN awarding the Second Class Independence Order to the Party Committee, government, and people of Thai Binh City for "having achieved exceptionally outstanding results in their work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland."
During its construction and development, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh City have been honored to receive many prestigious awards from the Party and State: the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the First-Class Labor Order, the Third-Class Independence Order... Many wards, communes, units, and individuals have been awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Heroic Vietnamese Mother, Hero of Labor in the đổi mới (renovation) period, along with many other prestigious medals and decorations.
