12 outstanding landmarks of Thai Binh City

After 20 years of construction and development, Thai Binh City has made great strides, achieved many important achievements, made outstanding marks in all economic and social fields, ensured national defense and security, built a clean and strong political system, and actively contributed to the construction and protection of the homeland. On this occasion, Dau Tu Newspaper selected 12 most outstanding events.

Uncle Ho Temple and Uncle Ho Monument with Vietnamese Farmers are key projects of the province and Thai Binh City, with special historical and cultural value.

1. Great news came to the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh town when, on April 29, 2004, Prime Minister Phan Van Khai signed Decree No. 117/2004/ND-CP establishing Thai Binh City under the province on the basis of the entire natural area and population of Thai Binh town. Thai Binh City has an area of 4,330 hectares and 143,925 people, 13 administrative units, including the wards of Le Hong Phong, Bo Xuyen, De Tham, Ky Ba, Quang Trung, Phu Khanh, Tien Phong, Tran Lam, and the communes of Hoang Dieu, Dong Hoa, Phu Xuan, Vu Chinh and Vu Phuc.

2. On December 13, 2007, in Decree No. 181/2007/ND-CP, the Prime Minister recognized the adjustment of administrative boundaries of Dong Hung district, Kien Xuong district, Vu Thu district to expand Thai Binh city, merge 5 communes of Dong Tho, Dong My, Vu Dong, Vu Lac, Tan Binh into Thai Binh city, adjust administrative boundaries of wards and communes, establish Tran Hung Dao ward, Hoang Dieu ward in Thai Binh city.

3. On December 12, 2013, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 2418/QD-TTg recognizing Thai Binh City as a type II urban area under Thai Binh province.

On April 7, 2014, Thai Binh province and Thai Binh city solemnly held a ceremony to receive the Decision to recognize Thai Binh city as a class II urban area of Thai Binh province and to receive the Third Class Independence Medal awarded by the President.

Thai Binh Bridge and the historic Bo Bridge connect the two banks of Tra Ly, expanding the development space of Thai Binh City.

4. 2019 marked a new milestone when Thai Binh City completed the task of building a new rural area. On April 13, 2020, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 512/QD-TTg recognizing Thai Binh City as having completed the task of building a new rural area.

5. On December 12, 2020, Thai Binh province and Thai Binh city solemnly held the inauguration ceremony of the Uncle Ho Temple and the Uncle Ho Monument with Vietnamese farmers at Thai Binh Square, an area of 28 hectares, along the Tra Ly River, Hoang Dieu Ward, Thai Binh City.

6. On November 25, 2021, the Executive Committee of the Thai Binh Provincial Party Committee issued Resolution No. 03 "On the construction and development of Thai Binh City to 2030, with a vision to 2045", striving to have Thai Binh City recognized as a class I urban area under the province by 2025, in the group of fairly developed urban areas by 2030, in the group of leading urban areas in the Red River Delta by 2045 and one of the important socio-economic centers of the region.

7. On June 21, 2023, the People's Committee of Thai Binh province issued Decision No. 1261/QD-UB approving the Master Plan for Construction of Thai Binh City to 2035 with a vision to 2050. The scope of the Plan includes the entire administrative boundary of Thai Binh City with 19 wards and communes and 10 communes expected to be expanded.

8. After 20 years of establishment, the City's area has reached nearly 7,000 hectares, with a population of over 218,000 people, with 19 administrative units, including 10 wards (Bo Xuyen, Ky Ba, Quang Trung, Tran Hung Dao, Tien Phong, Tran Lam, Hoang Dieu, Phu Khanh, Le Hong Phong, De Tham) and 9 communes (Phu Xuan, Tan Binh, Vu Phuc, Vu Chinh, Vu Lac, Dong My, Dong Hoa, Dong Tho).

9. The city's economy grew at a fairly high rate, with industry, construction, and services increasing rapidly, while agriculture declined sharply. Large industrial zones were formed such as Phuc Khanh, Nguyen Duc Canh, Song Tra, along with industrial clusters Phong Phu, Tran Lam, etc. Many important routes were put into operation such as the Southern Belt, Vo Nguyen Giap, Ky Dong, Le Quy Don, and extended Chu Van An, along with modern bridges, contributing to the strong expansion of urban space on both banks of Tra Ly.

In 2023, the total production value will reach 51,066.5 billion VND, the economic scale will account for 25% of the total product in the province, and per capita income will reach 78 million VND/year. There are over 2,500 enterprises operating stably, creating jobs for more than 80,000 workers. State budget revenue will meet and exceed the target. For two consecutive years (2022, 2023), Thai Binh City ranked first in the District Competitiveness Index (DDCI).

10. Culture, society, especially education and health care are always at the top of the province, social security is guaranteed, people's quality of life is significantly improved, the poverty rate has decreased sharply. Party building and political system building work is focused on. The administrative apparatus is rearranged towards streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency. National defense and security are strengthened, social order and safety are maintained.

11. On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Thai Binh town (June 30, 1954 - June 30, 2024) and 20 years of building and developing Thai Binh city, the Executive Committee of the Thai Binh City Party Committee respectfully introduces the book "History of the Thai Binh City Party Committee in the period 2000-2020" to all cadres, party members, people of the City and readers near and far.

12. On June 26, 2024, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam signed Decision No. 611/QD-CTN to award the Second Class Independence Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Thai Binh City for "having outstanding achievements in work, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland".

During the process of construction and development, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh City were honored to receive many noble awards from the Party and State: the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, the First Class Labor Medal, the Third Class Independence Medal... Many wards, communes, units and individuals were awarded the titles of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Heroic Vietnamese Mother, Hero of Labor in the renovation period, along with many noble orders and medals.
