Accordingly, as of August 15th, the banking sector has collected and verified biometric information for over 124 million bank accounts, reaching 100% of the total number of individual customer payment accounts conducting transactions via digital channels; for institutional customers, biometric information has been verified for over 1.3 million records, reaching 100% of the total number of institutional customer payment accounts conducting transactions via digital channels.
This result has yielded a significant impact: the number of scams decreased by over 59%, and the number of accounts involved in fraud decreased by 52% compared to before.
The National Credit Information Center (CIC), in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security, also completed six data cleaning operations involving approximately 57 million records.
In addition, most banks and intermediary organizations have deployed chip-embedded citizen identity cards at the counter, on digital banking applications, and are expanding the integration of VNeID.
In the first seven months of 2025, cashless transactions increased by over 44% in volume and 25% in value compared to the same period last year. Notably, transactions via QR Code increased by nearly 160% in value. Meanwhile, ATM transactions decreased by nearly 16% in volume, indicating a growing trend of cash withdrawals giving way to electronic payments.
Recently, to facilitate the payment of gifts commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd, the State Bank of Vietnam directed 28 banks and 4 intermediary units to partner with VNeID, ensuring the payment system operates safely 24/7.
In addition, the interbank electronic payment system was maintained throughout the holiday period to ensure timely and continuous payments to the public.
