125 projects entered the final round of Student Startup Ideas 2025, who will win?

More than 775 student startup projects participated in the 2025 startup idea competition, with the participation of vocational education institutions for the first time.

The 7th National Student Startup Day, chaired by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, and the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, and the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry, took place from April 18 to 20 in Ho Chi Minh City.

775 student startup projects in 2025

In 2025, the National Student Startup Festival and the “Students with Startup Ideas” contest will be held with main activities, including a conference to summarize the project “Supporting students to start a business by 2025”; exchange activities and high-tech demonstrations between delegations attending the festival; visiting the space displaying students’ startup ideas.

The final round of the 7th “Students with Startup Ideas” competition will take place at the festival. The 2025 competition was launched in December 2024. After 2 months of launching, the organizing committee received 775 startup projects from students of universities, vocationaltraining institutions and general education institutions.

After the semi-finals, the Ministry of Education and Training selected 125 outstanding projects to participate in the final round of the competition. This is the first year the competition has had the participation of vocational training institutions.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this year's startup ideas are of high quality and diverse, with ideas focusing on solving social problems.

The number of junior high school students participating this year increased compared to previous competitions. The projects of students from training institutions applied new technologies such as IoT, Big Data and AI technology. Many projects have been implemented by students and have had initial success, many projects have been implemented and moved to the profitable stage and the revenue and profit indicators have had quite impressive growth rates.

“This year’s judges and investment council are economic experts and prestigious businessmen. The competition not only provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate their passion, knowledge, and entrepreneurial spirit, but also helps students’ startup projects access investment opportunities as well as practical knowledge,” said a representative of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Increasingly high quality student startup projects

Implementing Project 1665, since 2018, the Ministry of Education and Training has organized the National Startup Festival for students and the contest "Students with startup ideas".

This year's National Student Startup Festival also aims to summarize 7 years of implementing the project "Supporting students to start businesses until 2025"; propose new, creative and effective solutions and methods to promote startups among students in the next phase.

After 7 times of organization, the contest "Students with startup ideas" has received nearly 2,239 projects from higher education institutions; 4,598 startup ideas and projects from vocational education students and more than 1,299 projects from high schools and middle schools.

Of these, 80% of the projects have products and 20% of the projects are ideas or products at the trial production stage. The quality of ideas and startup projects is getting better and better, and is highly appreciated by businesses. Among the winning projects of the competition, there are projects that have received investment from the State and have been deployed in production in some localities.

50% of universities, academies, and colleges have school-level startup competitions. Every year, each school has about 10-20 student startup ideas and projects participating in the competitions. 100% of education and training departments have students participating in student competitions with startup ideas.

Through the competition, more businesses and investment funds are interested in and connect to invest in feasible startup ideas and projects. After the competition ends, the winning projects continue to be incubated to become startups; feasible projects are also supported by higher education institutions to transfer to the community.
