Two defendants received 50 years in prison for drug possession and trafficking

The People's Court of An Giang province sentenced the defendants: Vu Van Thuong (40 years old) to 30 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking and illegal drug possession; Tran Thi Be Thuy (41 years old) to 20 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking (sentenced in absentia due to being wanted). The two defendants both reside in Phu Quoc Special Zone.

According to the case, because of greed, Thuy bought drugs to resell to addicts. From April 2021 to August 24, 2022, Thuy bought drugs 5 times (5 bags), with a total amount of 120 million VND. Thuy divided it into small pieces and sold it to 9 addicts in Phu Quoc Special Zone 54 times (54 bags), earning 73.9 million VND.

On August 24, 2022, Thuy asked Thuong to help her receive a styrofoam box containing a bag of drugs; while receiving the drugs, she was caught red-handed by the police with the evidence. The forensic conclusion of Thuy's drugs was that they were methamphetamine weighing 753.622 grams and Heroin weighing 56.665 grams.

Thuong is a drug addict, bought drugs 12 times with 12 bags, total amount of 60 million VND. Through appraisal, the amount of drugs Thuong had was a drug, Methamphetamine with a weight of 78.0528 grams. Thuong must bear criminal responsibility, with the role of accomplice helping Thuy in receiving drugs, buying them for the purpose of selling to addicts.
