This year's European Physics Olympiad was held in Bulgaria from June 13 to June 17 with the participation of more than 200 students from 29 European countries and 10 guest countries, including Vietnam.
All 5 Vietnamese students won awards, including 2 gold medals, 1 silver medal, 1 bronze medal and 1 certificate of merit.
The two Vietnamese students who won gold medals were Nguyen Tran Hieu (Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province) and Nguyen Le Dang Khoa (Gifted High School, Ho Chi Minh City National University).
The student who won the Silver Medal was Tran Nguyen Khai (Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An province).
Student Cap Kim Hoang Bao (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang city) won the bronze medal and student Ha Tuan Kiet ( Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh province) received a Certificate of Merit.
This is the 7th year Vietnam has participated in this competition. Last year, the Vietnamese team won 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals. This is also the best achievement of Vietnamese students ever.
The European Physics Olympiad is a competition for high school students from European countries and some invited countries outside the continent, including Vietnam. Each participating country sends 5 students. Each student takes part in 2 exams: a theoretical exam and a practical exam; the time for each exam is 5 hours.
Carrying out the tasks assigned by the Ministry of Education and Training, Hanoi University of Science and Technology cooperated with the Vietnam Physics Association to select and establish a team to participate in the European Physics Olympiad in 2025. The team consists of 5 members, who are students who won high prizes in the national excellent student selection exam in the 2024-2025 school year.
