3 People's Public Security officers leave for UN peacekeeping mission on April 30

On the morning of April 25, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to announce and hand over the decision to send three People's Public Security officers to participate in the United Nations peacekeeping force at the UNMISS Mission (Republic of South Sudan). Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Head of the Steering Committee of the Project on Vietnam's People's Public Security to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations (Project No. 05) chaired the ceremony.

Authorized by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Ministry of Public Security officially handed over the decision to Working Group No. 5, consisting of three officers: Lieutenant Colonel, PhD Pham Van Doan, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages ​​- Information Technology, People's Public Security Academy; Lieutenant Colonel, PhD Nguyen Van Nam, Deputy Head of the Department, People's Security Academy and Captain Tran My Linh, an officer of Nam Dinh Provincial Police.

Before leaving for international missions, the officers completed pre-deployment training courses organized by the Ministry of Public Security's Office for United Nations Peacekeeping Operations and the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, along with many specialized training courses in countries such as Australia, Indonesia, South Korea and Italy. Thereby, the officers were equipped with good foreign language skills, meeting the requirements of physical training, driving techniques, shooting, soft skills, survival in difficult and conflict environments; map use, first aid and mine awareness.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister Pham The Tung affirmed that this is not only a great honor and pride but also a responsibility of the selected People's Public Security officer, representing the image of the Vietnam People's Public Security force, representing the image of the country and people of Vietnam in the international environment.

Deputy Minister Pham The Tung requested the Ministry of Public Security's Standing Office on participation in United Nations peacekeeping and the Public Security of units and localities to continue to identify United Nations peacekeeping activities as an important and honorable task that the People's Public Security force is entrusted with by the Party, State and Government .

Colonel Le Quoc Huy, Permanent Office of the Ministry of Public Security on United Nations Peacekeeping, said: Up to now, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam has sent 4 working groups to participate in United Nations peacekeeping missions in Africa. Working group No. 5, which is about to be deployed, is the group with the most in-depth preparation and training. The officers have basically grasped the difficulties of weather, living conditions, and mission requirements in a post-conflict environment; and the diversity in a multicultural and multinational environment. The officers are fully equipped with knowledge and have a firm mindset to embark on their missions.

As the whole country prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, Task Force 5 is increasingly aware of the value of peace and national unity, and is determined to embark on a peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. The deployment of forces on the occasion of April 30 has a special significance, demonstrating Vietnam’s strong commitment to contributing to the United Nations’ global peace and security.
