On May 29, in Hanoi, the University of Economics (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) organized a Policy Consulting Workshop with the theme "Digital transformation in private enterprises - Towards double-digit growth in Vietnam".

In his opening speech, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Truc Le, Chairman of the University Council, affirmed that Resolution 68-NQ/TW of the Politburo was a historic turning point, creating a new breath of life in the private economic sector, establishing it as "the most important driving force of the national economy". Mr. Le emphasized that private enterprises wanting to develop breakthroughs cannot be separated from science and technology and digital transformation.

“Digital transformation - if it is just a story about software or technology platforms - will easily fail. But if it is a development mindset, an innovation platform, and especially - a policy that accompanies businesses - then it is the path that helps us overcome global competition. If planned properly, digital transformation will act as a “new operating system” for growth, innovation and integration,” he said.

At the discussion session, experts dissected the "bottlenecks" of private enterprises, especially small and medium enterprises. Mr. Nguyen Kim Hung, Vice President of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, pointed out the limitations in financial capacity, technology and high-quality human resources. He affirmed that digital transformation is the key to survival, and needs to be linked to science and technology, instead of just focusing on online sales or buying existing platforms.

Dr. Hoang Xuan Vinh, Lecturer at the University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, emphasized the lack of data platforms, shared systems and digital connection infrastructure. He suggested that Vietnam learn from Singapore's experience, where the Government has an initiative to support small and medium-sized enterprises in accessing digital tools, emphasizing the role of state management. "The state also needs a digital technology platform to support development. Along with that, it is necessary to build, develop, manage data warehouses and process data," Mr. Vinh shared.

Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Chi Anh, Director of the Institute of Business Administration, University of Economics, Vietnam National University, Hanoi proposed specific policies. These include investing in and completing national digital infrastructure (5G, cloud computing, data centers). Building a shared digital platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (accounting, e-commerce, supply chain management). At the same time, creating a clear legal environment for e-commerce, digital transactions, and electronic contracts.

Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Thi Hong Yen, full-time member of the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee, said the National Assembly will consider and pass many innovative laws and resolutions. She affirmed that digital transformation has a direct impact on business revenue, costs, and profits and is a key factor in achieving the double-digit growth target.
