People are examined, treated for dental diseases and instructed on proper oral hygiene to prevent disease and improve oral health. In addition, the program also gives practical gifts (toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, combs, nail clippers...) to students and people participating in the medical examination.
The total number of medical examinations reached about 1,000 people, with non-project aid worth 137.7 million VND sponsored by COPI.
According to the Quang Nam Province Union of Friendship Organizations, COPI has been present in Vietnam since 1997, regularly organizing annual humanitarian medical examinations and treatment trips in many provinces and cities, including Quang Nam. Each trip supports an average of 1,000 patients or more, focusing especially on people in difficult circumstances.
The Quang Nam Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations is a unit that regularly receives, connects and mobilizes humanitarian aid from foreign non- governmental organizations. Organizing medical examination and treatment programs like the above is considered practical and appropriate in the context that many poor people still have difficulty accessing quality medical services.
