Strengthening solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela

At the invitation of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), a delegation of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Venezuela Friendship Association led by Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Dong Huy Cuong visited, worked with and witnessed the National Assembly and Local Council elections in Venezuela from May 24 to 29.

During their stay in Venezuela, the delegation attended programs organized by the National Electoral Council of Venezuela; worked with and signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO) and the Simon Bolivar Institute for Peace and Solidarity among Peoples (ISB); paid a courtesy call to Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto; met and exchanged views with the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians Group; had friendly meetings with members of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship House, former Caracas guerrillas and people who love Vietnam; worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Venezuela. The delegation also visited the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the capital Caracas, attended the memorial service and signed the condolence book for former President Tran Duc Luong organized by the Vietnamese Embassy; visited the Simon Bolivar Hero Museum and visited the tomb of late President Hugo Chavez.

At the meetings and working sessions, Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto, President of the Venezuela - Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Group Saul Antonio Ortega Campos, President of the ISB Rosa Eekhout Gómez, Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno... all warmly welcomed, thanked and highly appreciated the visit of the Delegation demonstrating the friendship, solidarity and close cooperation between the people of the two countries; congratulated the great achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the struggle for national independence and reunification in the past and in the current cause of national construction and development, making Vietnam a bright spot, a model of development, with an increasingly high international role and position; expressed confidence that Vietnam will successfully achieve the national development goals set by the Party and State.

Foreign Minister Yván Gil Pinto affirmed that although the Bolivarian Revolution is facing many difficulties and challenges, being attacked from many sides, it is in the midst of difficulties that Venezuela has been learning to become a country like Vietnam. He emphasized that Vietnam is a shining example, having risen from countless difficulties, being devastated by war and embargo, and becoming a country with an important position in the region and the world. The Minister expressed his desire to strengthen relations between the two countries in all fields. He said that the President and leaders of Venezuela are very interested in and attach great importance to the cooperation between VUFO and ISB. He affirmed that the leaders of the two countries have built bilateral relations in terms of politics , and that organizations such as VUFO and ISB need to actively promote and strengthen relations on the people's channel, contributing to connecting businesses, scholars, and student exchanges between the two countries.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the VUFO-ISB Memorandum of Understanding, Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno and ISB President Rosa Eekhout Gómez both affirmed that this agreement not only creates an important foundation for cooperation between VUFO and ISB but also marks a step forward in the development of people-to-people relations between the two countries. Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno emphasized that in her role, she will create conditions for ISB to cooperate effectively with VUFO.

ISB President Rosa Eekhout expressed her joy that the cooperation agreement between ISB and VUFO had become a reality. She said that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed at a very special and meaningful time for both countries when Vietnam celebrated the 80th anniversary of National Day, the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday and the successful elections of the National Assembly and Local Councils in Venezuela with the resounding victory of the PSUV Party. She believed that the cooperation between VUFO and ISB would be successful, contributing to the development of Vietnam - Venezuela relations.

Mr. Dong Huy Cuong, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, Head of the delegation, expressed his deep impression and congratulated the important achievements that the Venezuelan people have achieved, congratulated the success and victory of PSUV in the National Assembly and Local Council elections. Mr. Dong Huy Cuong informed the general situation of Vietnam and sincerely thanked the support and assistance that the leaders and people of Venezuela have given to Vietnam in the past struggle for national liberation and reunification and in the current cause of national construction and defense. Mr. Dong Huy Cuong said that the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Venezuela has been built on a solid foundation, sharing many similarities and will certainly continue to develop further.

Members of the Vietnamese delegation shared the difficulties and challenges that the Venezuelan people are facing, affirming the solidarity and consistent stance of the Party, State and people of Vietnam in supporting the Venezuelan people's just revolutionary cause for independence, national sovereignty and socialism. The Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam - Venezuela Friendship Association, as specialized organizations for people's diplomacy, will do their best to closely coordinate with the ISB and the Venezuela - Vietnam Friendship House in strengthening the solidarity, traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the people of the two countries, striving together for the goal of peace, stability and a peaceful and happy life in independence and freedom for the people of each country.
