Bao Son Award is held annually to honor outstanding scientific, technological, engineering, literary and artistic works of individuals and research groups at home and abroad that have made outstanding contributions to the development of Vietnam. One of the important criteria of the award is that the work must be effectively applied in practice, making outstanding contributions to the cause of building and defending the country.
In 2024, the Bao Son Award selection council selected 4 outstanding works in 4 fields to award prizes, including:
“Research and production of African swine fever vaccine” (product name: AVAC ASF LIVE), in the field of Livestock Protection and Environment, conducted by Dr. Nguyen Van Diep, AVAC Vietnam Joint Stock Company;
“Research on the application of endoscopic surgery in the treatment of some thyroid diseases”, in the field of Health Science, conducted by Hero of Labor, People's Physician, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Luong;
“Research and application of advanced three-phase composite materials and structures in engineering”, in the field of Engineering Technology, conducted by Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc, University of Engineering and Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;
“History of Ethnic Policy of Vietnamese Communists”, Social Sciences and Humanities by Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo, Vietnam-Japan University, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. The value of each award is 120,000 USD, equivalent to about 3 billion VND.
According to the organizers' assessment, the winning projects have made remarkable progress in research and technology application, bringing practical value and high socio-economic efficiency, contributing to promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung congratulated the four excellent scientific projects that had passed many rounds of review to be awarded the noble prize today.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Bao Son Award is a clear demonstration of the connection between policy and practice, between the private sector and the state, between the state, scientists, businesses and the community, all working together to build an open, sustainable and effective innovation ecosystem. Bao Son Group and Bao Son Foundation, especially the Bao Son Award, are gradually becoming an annual, prestigious award with profound humanistic values, inspiring scientists, recognizing, respecting and encouraging the spirit of persistent and silent dedication of scientists to the development of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung believes that the scientific works honored today will become a great source of encouragement for scientists to continue researching and contributing their intelligence and efforts to the rapid and sustainable development of the country.
