4 candidates running for Russian president in March

The four candidates include incumbent President Vladimir Putin; Mr. Leonid Slutsky - candidate of the right-wing Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), Mr. Vladislav Davankov - candidate of the New People's Party and Mr. Nikolai Kharitonov, candidate of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

The list of four candidates was released by the Russian Central Election Commission at a meeting on the morning of February 8. The Russian Central Election Commission also refused to register the remaining candidates, including Boris Nadezhdin, Sergei Malinkovich, Anatoly Batashev and Rada.

The Russian Federation Council has scheduled the presidential election in Russia for March 17. Voting will last for three days: March 15, 16 and 17.
