Mr. Nguyen Quang Minh, Director of Hung Thinh General Hospital ( Lao Cai ) said: On October 9, the hospital received and treated 40 patients who were students of Lao Cai College with symptoms of digestive disorders.
Patients admitted to the hospital with vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are currently being treated mainly in the Internal Medicine Department; some patients with additional fever symptoms are being monitored and treated in the Emergency Resuscitation Department.
"Immediately after receiving the patients, we examined them, made medical records, used special medications and administered IV fluids. Currently, the patients' conditions are stable, with no serious complications," said Mr. Minh.
Previously, on the morning of October 9, 3 students from Lao Cai College showed symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, and loose stools and were taken to Hung Thinh Hospital for monitoring and treatment.
That same afternoon, three more students were hospitalized with similar symptoms. Upon receiving the information, the school conducted a review and sent 34 more students with symptoms of digestive disorders to the hospital for further monitoring and treatment.
Currently, the patients are being monitored and treated, and there have been no serious cases. The Lao Cai Province Food Safety Department has taken food samples from the school canteen and sent them to the authorities for testing, and is awaiting results.
