On the evening of May 28, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations coordinated with the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union to organize the closing ceremony and award the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2024.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Honorary Chairman of the Vietnam Fund for Supporting Technical Innovation (VIFOTEC); Le Quang Huy, Party Central Committee member, Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment; Huynh Thanh Dat, Party Central Committee member, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Phan Xuan Dung, Party Secretary, Chairman of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, Chairman of the Award Council.
Also attending were representatives of leaders of central and local ministries, departments and branches; departments of science and technology, unions of associations, science and technology associations of provinces and cities; jury, scientists and businesses across the country.
In his opening speech, President of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, President of VIFOTEC Foundation, Doctor of Science Phan Xuan Dung affirmed: Science, technology and innovation are the way to help the country catch up, progress together and surpass in the new era.
This year's award continues to affirm the role of intellectuals - the most important resource and driving force in the country's sustainable development and prosperity.
Dr. Phan Xuan Dung, a scientist, said that in 2024, the Organizing Committee decided to award prizes to 43 outstanding scientific works to honor, including 5 first prizes, 10 second prizes, 13 third prizes and 15 consolation prizes. These are works with outstanding scientific and technological values, high applicability, and practical contributions to the socio-economic development of the country.
Dr. Phan Xuan Dung emphasized that in the coming time, agencies, organizations and the scientific community need to continue to promote their role in spreading the value of the Award, contributing to promoting research and application of science and technology to serve the cause of rapid and sustainable national development.

According to the Organizing Committee, this year's award attracted 151 projects, of which 105 were eligible to compete. The projects were divided into 6 fields: Mechanics - Automation (22 projects), Materials Technology (6 projects), Information Technology - Electronics - Telecommunications (13 projects), Biology for production and life (43 projects), Technology to respond to climate change and protect the environment (13 projects), Energy saving technology and use of new energy (8 projects).
The Jury has selected 5 projects to win First Prize in key areas: Research and design of 23x152mm incendiary bullets by the author group of Factory Z113, Ministry of National Defense (in the field of mechanics and automation); new generation transmission security equipment system for satellite information networks implemented by the Government Cipher Committee (in the field of information technology and electronics); design of well completion kit in complex oil and gas well repair implemented by the Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Corporation (in the field of energy); project to produce domesticated propellant for anti-aircraft bullets by the Institute of Explosives and Propellants (in the field of materials); and "Bottles-to-Bottles" PET plastic recycling solution by Duy Tan Recycled Plastics Joint Stock Company (in the field of environment).
Launching the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award 2025, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Xuan Dinh emphasized: In the context of the country promoting the transformation of the growth model based on science, technology and innovation, discovering, honoring and replicating typical works is extremely necessary.
Deputy Minister Le Xuan Dinh affirmed that six key technology groups need to be prioritized, including: Mechanics and automation; materials technology; information technology, electronics and telecommunications; biotechnology serving production and life; technology to respond to climate change, protect the environment, and use resources rationally; and technology to save and use new energy.
The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that the 2025 Award will continue to receive positive responses from scientists, experts and creative individuals across the country.
The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award has been held annually since 1995. 2024 marks the 30th year of its organization, recognizing the journey of honoring outstanding scientific and technological works nationwide. The award is the largest intellectual playground for domestic scientists.
Over the years, the award has continuously expanded its influence, attracting the participation of many subjects in society, from in-depth researchers to engineers directly working in production at enterprises.
Many award-winning works have become successful commercialized products, creating added value for the Vietnamese economic and technical sector. On this occasion, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union awarded the Creative Labor Certificate and the Creative Youth Badge to the award-winning authors./.
