The project, led by the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection, aims to raise awareness and responsibility among people, agencies, cooperatives, and businesses regarding the role of planting area codes and traceability systems, preventing counterfeiting, protecting the reputation and brand of agricultural products; standardizing data, managing and assigning planting area codes for key crops serving exports, improving the efficiency of state management and sustainable production and consumption linkages…
Over the past 5 years, the Project has established 5 agricultural production models covering 50 hectares (2 tea models (20ha), 2 peanut models (20ha), and 1 pomelo model (10ha)) and 2 tea packaging facilities meeting export requirements to the EU and China in My Lam ward and the communes of Tan Trao, Minh Quang, and Xuan Van; trained 30 provincial, district, and commune-level management officials and businesses on establishing, evaluating, and monitoring planting area codes and packaging facilities; trained 289 farmers, workers, cooperatives, and businesses on regulations regarding pests, food safety, safe production processes, cultivation logs, and packaging facility management; and collected, standardized, digitized, and operated OTAS (Overall Agricultural System Data) data on planting areas.

As a result of the project, over 12,000 Soi Ha pomelos have been exported to the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic; the black tea products of My Lam Tea Joint Stock Company in the growing area have been granted codes qualifying them for export to the EU market with an annual output of 20 tons; the average selling price of products with assigned growing area codes has increased by 10-15% compared to before…
At the conference, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Nguyen Xuan Hung affirmed: The project is being implemented in the right direction, in line with the requirements of agricultural development in the context of globalization and the tightening of major import markets worldwide ; ensuring the set objectives are met. Tuyen Quang's proactive implementation of the OTAS system/standard is a timely step, consistent with the digital transformation orientation of the agricultural sector, and at the same time meets the need to enhance the value and reputation of the province's agricultural products.
Products from this model have been exported to EU countries; the safe production process contributes to reducing emissions, protecting the environment, and aligns with the trend of green and sustainable agriculture; people and businesses are well aware of the importance of planting area codes, are more proactive in recording production logs, controlling input materials, and maintaining planting area standards… At the same time, it is hoped that businesses, cooperatives, and farmers will continue to maintain, expand the area, and widely apply the OTAS standard system to other crops.
