In 5 months, budget revenue from import and export activities increased by 9.2%

Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2025, budget revenue from import and export activities reached 182,518 billion VND, equal to 44.4% of the assigned estimate, up 9.2% over the same period last year.

On June 5, the Customs Department announced that budget revenue from import and export activities in May 2025 reached VND 39,780 billion, down 1.4%, equivalent to a decrease of about VND 567 billion, compared to April 2025.

Accumulated in the first 5 months of 2025, budget revenue from import and export activities reached 182,518 billion VND, equal to 44.4% of the assigned estimate, up 9.2% (equivalent to an increase of 15,349 billion VND) over the same period last year.

May marks an important step forward in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of goods across borders.

The police, customs and border guards have increased inspection, supervision and strict handling of smuggling and trade fraud, focusing on pharmaceuticals, food, pharmaceutical ingredients, etc. The customs agency has accelerated the investigation of cases related to smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.

Of which, the number of violations on the sea route still accounts for a large proportion, with 686 cases/1,247 cases, accounting for 55% of the number of cases detected, arrested and handled.

Goods are mainly concentrated through important seaports such as Dinh Vu, Nam Hai Dinh Vu, Tan Vu, VIP Green, Cat Lai, ICD Phuoc Long, Hiep Phuoc, Vict, Cai Mep, etc. The subjects mainly declare incorrect names, types, quality, customs value, commodity codes, and origins.

Illegal transportation of drugs, currency, and gold across the border has shown signs of increasing via air routes, along with increasingly sophisticated methods. Subjects take advantage of policy openness, the development of e-commerce, express delivery methods, and consignment services to smuggle, commit commercial fraud, and illegally transport goods.

On the road, illegal trading and transportation of firecrackers and white sugar continues in the Central provinces and the Vietnam - Laos border.

Meanwhile, the trading and transportation of frozen foods, consumer goods, cigarettes and tobacco leaves are complicated in the border areas of Vietnam - China and Vietnam - Cambodia.

In May, the customs discovered, arrested and handled 1,247 cases, with an estimated value of infringing goods of VND963.5 billion; a decrease of 50 cases (down 3.85%); prosecuted 4 cases, transferred 7 cases for prosecution (up 75%) compared to the same period. State budget revenue was VND37.57 billion.

In the first 5 months of 2025, the number of detected, arrested and handled cases was 6,453, the value of infringing goods was estimated at VND 11,294 billion. The state budget revenue reached approximately VND 384.73 billion; 4 cases were prosecuted; 41 cases were transferred for prosecution.

In the field of drug prevention and control, in the last 5 months, the Customs sector has presided over and coordinated with other forces to detect and arrest 76 cases/83 subjects, of which the Customs sector presided over 31 cases. The seized evidence was about 1.8 tons of various types of drugs.
